  • Organization is the Key to Success!

    Funded Aug 15, 2023

Thank you for your generous donations to my classroom! My students and I were very excited to get our shipment of organizational supplies and your donation allowed us to have a productive and successful year.

My students were able to access materials as they needed them and it allowed them to be independent and self-efficient while working. Our classroom looked organized and inviting for the entire year, which was only possible with the materials you so generously funded.

Once again, I want to thank you for taking an interest in my classroom and caring about my students.”

  • Classroom Essentials For An Exciting Year

    Funded Aug 15, 2023

My students and I would like to thank you for your kindness and generosity. Our classroom carpet is colorful, soft, beautiful, cozy, and the central space in our home away from home.

Having a large rug has given us a meeting space to meet every morning and discuss our schedule for the day, a learning space to sit and participate in whole-class lessons daily, someplace cozy to sit and listen to stories, and a work space for students to stretch out and work in groups or independently. Our year has been better because of your donation to our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Gelbinovich

  • Starting the Year off with the Right Supplies

    Funded Aug 15, 2023

Thank you very much for helping to ensure that my students have everything the supplies we need in order to create a student-centered classroom. Your generosity means the world to us.

Classroom supplies help foster creativity and innovation for project-based learning. It also helped us learn to respect and appreciate the supplies we have been so lucky to have access to all year. Responsible habits and choices are learned behaviors and shared materials are a great way to practice sharing and respecting available resources in our communities.”

  • Library Makeover!

    Funded Aug 23, 2022

I want to thank you for choosing to support my classroom. My students anxiously awaited the arrival of our new bins so that they would have a complete and organized library as well as a place to store their personal belongings while moving around the room with their daily flexible seat choice.

When the materials arrived, I kept them in the boxes for a few days until I was able to dedicate enough time to get everything in its' place. Then, I surprised them one morning by having everything set up for them when they arrived to school! They were thrilled.

We are now able to spend time shopping for books each morning (rather than students getting 1-2 opportunities each week on a rotating schedule) because everyone know where to return books and where to look for new books. We can also transition between subjects more smoothly because everyone know where to find their own belongings in their dedicated bins.

In a nutshell, the materials from this project have allowed me to set up a system that has given my students independence and a sense of ownership over our classroom. They all understand how fortunate we are for your generosity and we are all incredibly grateful to you.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Gelbinovich

  • Staying Engaged with Flexible Seating!

    Funded Jul 29, 2022

My students and I are extremely grateful for your generosity! Being able to wiggle around in their seats and work comfortably on the floor has enhanced the way my students learn and work. Having several types of seating choices have made independent reading and writing work more enjoyable and productive. Students can find a quiet spot to comfortably work away from their tables if they wish.

The look on their faces when they saw their flexible seat choices was priceless. Every single student raised their hand to excitedly ask me if they could use one. I had to make a schedule to make sure that each student will have a chance to use the different seat types throughout the week.

Again, thank you so much for taking an interest in my classroom and making a contribution toward improving the lives of my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Gelbinovich

  • We Like to Move It, Move It..While We Work!

    Funded Aug 23, 2018

I want to start by thanking you, from the bottom of my heart, for the kindness and generosity you have shown by donating to this project. My students absolutely love that their non-traditional classroom allows them to choose different work spaces throughout the day. If you walk into our classroom at any given time, you will find students wiggling around on wobble cushions as they work at low (coffee) tables while others are bouncing or wobbling on stability balls and wobble stools at regular desks. My students a know that the purpose of flexible seating is to maximize productivity so they are trying their best to choose "smart" seats for themselves. A student who prefers to move around while they read might need a more traditional seat during writing time. At the end of the day, we work as a team to put everything back in the correct place and make sure the classroom looked the way it did when we arrived that morning.

I look forward to adding new and creative flexible seating options for my students in the future!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Gelbinovich

  • Easels Make Learning Easier!

    Funded Aug 23, 2018

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generous donation to my classroom. The two easels we received through this project have helped me to be more organized and explicit in my teaching so that my students have the tools and supports they need in order to maximize their learning. Whenever I teach a lesson to the whole class, we use the large easel for many different purposes. We create and hang charts, record our thinking, and work on shared writing pieces, to name a few. Once it is time for independent work, instructions, sample problems, and charts are posted on the large easel to support students while I pull a few students for a small group lesson. The smaller table top easel gives me the flexibility to easily work wherever students feel comfortable so that they are focused and engaged. Once again, thank you for caring about my students and helping me create a classroom environment that allows them to be successful.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Gelbinovich

I am entering my fourth year of teaching at a wonderful public school in Brooklyn, NY. We are located in a very ethnically diverse neighborhood and our large student body of over 1,000 students reflects that diversity. We also have significant numbers of English Language Learners, Students with Disabilites, and students living in poverty. My classroom is full of eager learners and many of them are ELLs. They love to read, write, explore mathematics, and express themselves through the arts. I always do my best to keep learning exciting and engaging and this requires me to provide many of the necessary books, tools, and supplies we use. However, I do need your help to secure some of the things that we need in our classroom. My goal as their teacher is to provide learning resources and to continue encouraging each of my students to grow and meet each of their own individual goals.
