As my students return to the classroom in the 50/50 hybrid model, we'll need some supplies to allow them to be successful in both environments. My classroom has a set of iPads that we will use while in person, and my students are using school-issued laptops at home. In the physical classroom my students will continue to use Zoom to meet with ESOL teachers, Special Education teachers, and reading specialists to meet their academic and behavioral needs. To protect student privacy in the classroom, and allow all students a quiet and productive learning environment, my students need over the ear headphones with microphones to use with their iPads. My students will also use their iPads and laptops to continue completing and submitting work. We love Seesaw, but have found some of the tools difficult to use with the trackpads on the school issued laptops. Each of my students requires a child-sized mouse to help them complete work at home. In the classroom, we'll use styluses to help encourage a proper pencil grip while submitting digital work (Don't worry! There will also be plenty of opportunity for paper and pencil work when we are in the building!). My resilient learners have adapted so well to the virtual classroom, and will rise to the new challenges of hybrid learning. These tools will help empower them as they take on learning in two very different environments.
