  • Bouncing Bubbles!

    Funded Jul 29, 2023

"This is the best day ever!", "Wow!", and "Catch!" were the statements that echoed through my classroom when we did our bouncing bubble experiment. Have you ever seen a bubble bounce? Well most of my students hadn't either. Using glycerin, dish soap and water, we made a bubble solution that allows bubbles to rest in a gloved hand and then you can bounce it and play catch with your friends. It is the coolest thing ever!

Thank you so much for the supplies to make this project come to life. The gylcerin is the secret ingredient to allowing the bubble to bounce. The white gloves breaks the barrier of oils on our hands that usually causes bubbles to break.

Thank you again for allowing me to bring this project to life in my classroom. I love doing it at the end of the year as one of our final activities because it is so much fun! Thank you for your support of my classroom and helping me make the end of 2nd grade something that my class will always remember”

  • Help Fill Our Treasure Box!

    Funded Jan 22, 2024

Thank you so much for your incredible donations! The prizes for my treasure box really came in handy. My students love the new variety of prizes that our treasure box now holds. The mini-rubrix cubes and bouncing balls are the biggest hit. Some of students really like the erasers that you can take apart and put back together. The dry erase markers also came in handy. We use our mini-whiteboards and markers on a daily basis and I am sure you can imagine how quickyl we go through them. I like to use our white boards for on-the-spot assessments and whoel group learning. We use them for small group instruction as well.

Thank you again for your incredible donation to my project. My students and I are grateful for your support of our classroom.”

  • Candles Light the Way!

    Funded Aug 9, 2023

Thank you so much for your incredible donations. We finished up our Social Studies unit: New York City Over Time on Friday. Since we studied all the different ways that New York had changed, we thought finishing with a project where our class got to experience what life was like long ago would be amazing.

Our students created beeswax candles that they were able to take home and share with their families. The students learned about the beeswax and how important candles were to families long ago. My students learned how to roll the beeswax around the wick to make sure it was nice and tight.

Thank you for your donations that lead to an incredible experience that my students won't forget.”

  • A Little Bit of This, A Little Bit of That

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

Thank you so much for your incredible donations. I recieved many wonderful items. The paper towels have been so useful in cleaning up all the spills we have due to eating breakfast in the classroom. The paper towels we get in school just don't cut it. The dry erase markers have been a life-saver. We use dry erase markers and boards on a daily basis. We go through a lot of markers. My students use their dry erase boards to work on their spelling and letter sounds in Fundations. I have my students solve quick math problems on their boards so I can do a quick assessment of a skill.

The charging cords have now made it possible for me to charge all 32 of my student's iPads at the same time. This has been a lifesaver!

I can not wait to use the plastic champagne glasses at our end of year writing celebration. We get sparkling cider and toast our 2nd graders for all the hard work that they have done in writing during the year. Last year was our first year trying that type of celebration and everyone loved it!

Thank you again for your incredible donations. All of the supplies we recieved have made my classroom run so much more smoothly. I appreciate your support. Thank you so much!”

  • Classroom Organization on the Way

    Funded Oct 3, 2023

Thank you so much for your donations. The supplies that we received have made my classroom run much smoothier. The rulers have already made an impact on your art projects as many of my students have been using them to draw lines and shapes during their free art time. We are looking forward to using them in our upcoming measuring unit. The stools have been a life-saver in my classroom. I use them when I am conferencing with students at their tables. I am able to pull my stool right up to them and talk about what they are working on. My students use them to sit next to a friend to do partner work or if we need 5 students at a table the stool is a perfect extra seat.

The paper organizer has been a huge hit. My students know exactly where their papers are for the next part of our math lesson. It has made our math periods run much more smoothly. The iPad charger has been a game changer. We use our iPads on a daily basis for homework and classwork. Being able to charge all of our iPads at the same time really helps keep my classroom running.

Thank you again for your donations and support of my classroom.”

  • Let's Write About Bugs! Bugs! Bugs!

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

Thank you so much for your donations. The nonfiction books that my classroom received really enhanced our Nonfiction research projects. My students were able to pick an insect to research and use the books we got to help give them more facts to add to their writing projects.

All of the books we received had lots of amazing photos and my students were very engaged in the books. I think it is so important to find good nonfiction books to share with my students. I also love that nonfiction books can be written in many different ways but still share important facts about their topic. I love being able to show students how differently nonfiction books can be written. We like comparing different books, like Gail Gibbons vs. National Geographics. Thank you again for helping me bring more nonfiction books into my classroom.”

  • Starting the Year Off Right!

    Funded May 10, 2023

Thank you so much for your donations. Your donations allowed my class to be ready to work from the first day of school. I had pencils and whiteboard markers for every student ready to go. In my classroom we use white board markers and erasers every single day. The markers and erasers are used in math lessons and Fundations lessons on a daily basis. Having a huge supply of them allows my students to participate without worry about what happens if they don't have one or can't find one. I always have a basket filled with the markers so they know where they are and are able to just go grab one when needed.

Having what seems like an endless supply of pencils is also very necessary. My student go through pencils at an incredible rate. Being able to continually have a sharpened supply is very important. This allows for very little disruption in our learning. We haven't started using the prizes yet as school has only just started but my students are looking forward to earning rewards for behavior. Thank you again for your incredible donations. My year has started off very smoothly with your help.”

  • Keeping the Beat-One Bucket at a Time!

    Funded Feb 3, 2023

Thank you so much for your donations! Bucket drumming has been so much fun this year! This year my class did not have music class. We had art, theater and violin instead. Being able to bring a musical instrument into my classroom was amazing. I was able to use some of the skills that my students learned in violin class into our bucket drumming class. My students learned how to hold a drumstick, as well as the different parts of the drum that we can use to play.

We practiced following each other creating new beats. We learned how to play along with the song "We Will Rock You." We preformed for other classes to share what we learned.

I really enjoyed learning a new skill along with my students. Thank you so much for allowing me to bring a new type of creativity into my classroom.”

  • Science Experiment Supplies!

    Funded Sep 9, 2022

Thank you so much for your donations. My project was a hit! All of the supplies that we got were super helpful in finishing out our year! Yesterday, we did my favorite science experiment of whole year! We made our bubbles bounce. Using a special bubble solution ( glycerin, dish soap and water), we were able to bounce our bubbles on our hands if they had a glove on them. The cotton gloves allow the bubbles to bounce and not break. Some of us were even able to play catch with our bubbles. The excitement and wonder was so evident in my classroom. All around the room, you could hear "Wow!" and "Oh my goodness!" and "Look at this!". My students were able to take their bubble solution home and many parents let me know that their child spent hours playing with their bubble solution and gloves that night. The containers and ziplock bags allowed my students to take their supplies home. I like being able to allow my students to take their gloves home as well so that they can continue to play with their bubbles.

Thank you so much for helping this project come to life and for giving my students the opportunity to experience so much wonder and joy!”

  • 2nd Grades Love Disgusting Critters!

    Funded Mar 2, 2023

Thank you so much for your donations that allowed us to get the Disgusting Critters book series. My students love them! They love randomly coming up to me and sharing facts- usually disgusting facts. For example, did you know that head lice only eat human blood and they drink it five times a day? (I didn't know that and now I do!)

These books hold my students interest and helps them learn more about the animal the book is about. I also like using these books so show the different ways that nonfiction information can be presented. These books have lots of facts but also has the critter responding and adding in some humor about the facts. For example, on the page about head lice and drinking human blood, there is a picture of a louse dressed up like a vampire with a speech bubble saying " They call me Count Draculouse."

Thank you again for your donations and helping me bring more nonfiction resources into my classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Meyers
