My students have so many different sensory needs that can sometimes hinder their learning and their ability to reach their goals. The sensory items will help in various ways such as regulating inattentive behaviors, helping to calm and soothe, and eliminating certain behaviors that may endanger themselves and others. The tablets will help me to re-establish my technology center. As we all know young children love technology and it truly enhances their learning in so many ways. On top of the immense amount of learning resources, tablets provide fine motor skill development for my students who have difficulties in that area. Due to an unfortunate accident I no longer have my district provided iPad and we don't have the funds to replace it. It would be so wonderful to have these tablets in my class. Here is a detailed description of what each item will be used for in our class: 2 Fire 7 Edition Tablets 7"- Used for technology center, academic games, classroom incentive, IEP objectives: fine motor skills, picture matching and labeling. New Sprouts Breakfast Lunch and Dinner Set of 52- These will be used in out housekeeping center. Our current play food is aged and few in number. We could use some updated food. This would further enhance play skills that are taught through IEP objectives. Lap Pad, Cuddle Loop, TheraPressure Brush, Tangle Jr, Gel Ball, and Light filters (TRANQUIL BLUE): These items are essential for children who experience various sensory sensitivities. They are also useful for students who may need some form of stimulation in order to maintain appropriate attending skills such as sitting at group times and task completion. Poly Markers (Stars)- Having organization during transitions are important for preschoolers. These will help make transitions run smoothly.
