  • A Photo Is Worth a Thousand Words

    Funded Mar 11, 2017

Thank you for your generous donation of chomebooks in our classroom. Many students use technology everyday and in today's modern world art is changing.

The students were very excited to have a voice in our community through the project. The ability to use digital media has been very helpful to several students that have been struggling with traditional media. They use technology for most of their day, using it in art has given them the self confidence to create openly and share their work with others. They are proud of it. I have included some of the edited photos the students have created so that you may see first hand how your contribution has evolved the students work.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. COLASANTE

  • Creating Clay Animation with Chromebooks

    Funded Sep 19, 2016

My students are so excited about Chromebooks in the art room! They can't believe our collection has grown because of kind and caring people like you who are strangers to them. Even in art technology is important and my students are grateful for the opportunity to learn new techniques using technology. I am thankful that I can now introduce my students to graphic art techniques that will bring them into the 21st century. It is my goal to help them use this technology to enhance their already creative spirit and knowledge. My students are excited and grateful for the opportunity of using digital media in the art room.

We are still hoping to expand our technology further in the future the Chromebooks you have provided are an excellent start. We have enough Chromebooks for each table to use, this means sharing among 4 students. However I like to think of it more as collaborating on projects and sharing ideas. Students have been using the Chromebooks so far to gather information, ideas, research images to draw from and to create photography projects using google apps. We will begin some digital media projects such as movies and clay animation in the near future.

This project has challenged the students to try new things and take risks. With technology their projects can be saved at various steps thus giving them less anxiety to make a mistake while taking more of a risk. It has challenged me as a teacher also to learn new techniques and to also turn the reigns of teaching over to some of the more technologically savvy students. I am learning so much from the students themselves. Technology is important in our future and combining it with art gives provides an opportunity the students have not experienced before and they are excited about it.

I want to thank you for your gracious gift for our art room. It is sure to continue to provide new learning opportunities and advancement for my students. My students and I are truly thankful for your support and belief in us.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. COLASANTE

  • Chromebook for Clay Animation

    Funded Aug 15, 2016

Thank you so much for funding our first project! My students are so excited to have some technology in the classroom. The addition of a Chromebook will allow the students to learn new technologies while also learning to collaborate on group projects.

So far students have used the Chromebook to research images for projects, look up videos on how to create a specific technique, and to begin editing photos. Art club students have used the Chromebook to complete their posters inspired by Bill Graham. Students will now begin to work in groups to complete a group project in clay animation. They are excited by the idea, challenged yet confident that they can create something unique. My students also look forward to future lessons incorporating technology.

I cannot thank you enough for the opportunities you have given my students through your generosity and thoughtfulness. My students are very happy and excited to know that people like you care about their education. We are grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. COLASANTE
