The materials on this project will help me connect with our students during Distant Learning. The White Board and whiteboard materials will help me lead live, engaging lessons while the dry-erase markers will make it fun and colorful. Our students on the spectrum work best when following along instead of working independently. These materials will allow me to present information as if we were still in our old classroom, creating a sense of normalcy in these unprecedented times. Art is essential in the development of motor skills, decision-making skills, and creativity. The Stylus Pen will help me lead step-by-step drawing lessons. Step-by-step drawing is something we were already doing in our physical classroom and I would love to continue to practice art during distant learning. The Stylus Pen will also support writing lessons. When I am able to write on my laptop screen, I can share it with the students through our web meetings. Our students need accommodations such as sentence starters, short instructions, and visual clues. Being able to write on my screen will help them complete tasks and feel proud of themselves. Office materials such as paper and markers will help me create posters that will guide our students while working. We previously made large charts for our classroom that are too big to display on camera. With these materials, I will be able to create new charts and posters that work best with our current online lessons. Last but not least, the books in this project are essential in continuing our Literacy Practice through live reading sessions. Our students love to be read to and they grasp information more easily when they listen and see the pictures. These books are specifically diverse in order to continue to practice social skills such as kindness and acceptance of all.
