As the only art teacher at my school with 1,480 students, I have the satisfication of designing and and implementing a dynamic hands-on curriculum that teaches to the standards and integrates with core subjects. My students live in a high poverty, high crime neighborhood with most receiving free breakfast/lunch. Many of them do not have access to a computer or printer at home. The demographics of my school are primarily Latino, many of which are English Language Learners. Our school is located in IL and is in the third largest school district in the country. They come from all types of homes, some living in foster care or with relatives. My students are enthusiastic, creative, and dynamic. They desire success.
