Empowering Young Minds with Essential Classroom Tools!
Funded Aug 28, 2024Thank you for your generosity, support, and compassion for my students. We will graciously be using these materials all year in order to make sure that my students are able to succeed in their class endeavors.
I know numerous of students will be relieved to know that they will not need to struggle to purchase school supplies or reuse old notebooks from years prior, thanks to your help.”

Learning in Nature!
Funded Jun 8, 2022Thank you so much for the sleeping bags and camping utensils. The students were super excited to use these supplies on their trip to the Everglades these past few days. I know future groups of students will also appreciate these supplies as we continue to build our students love of learning and the outdoors, while we continue to attend the Everglades camping field trip. This experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity that many of our students would never have been able to afford if not for your donations.”

Learning Math in the 21st Century!
Funded Sep 27, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donation! Thanks to you, my students were able to use new Chromebooks in our classroom! Through these Chromebooks, my ESOL students were able to access math curriculum in their native language, my students performing below grade level were able to work on remedial lessons to help scaffold them up to 5th grade math content, and my students on grade level were able to go ahead of the curriculum to learn lessons on their own ahead of time. Having access to Khan Academy through these Chromebooks has helped reshape my students' interaction with their math content, and all of them are so happy because of it!”

Funded Mar 17, 2020Thank you so much for helping provide emergency menstrual pads to my female students! Feminine hygiene products are often such overlooked and sorely-needed essential items for female students. Your donations have helped me guarantee that none of them have to feel uncomfortable, nervous, or embarrassed about being unprepared for their monthly visit. It has helped them feel more relaxed and at-ease in their classes and has also helped ensure their engagement, any day of the month. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Sometimes, the simplest things can make all the difference.”

Funded Jun 19, 2018My students and I want to thank you for your donation; it's become a fantastic addition to our classroom! It's extremely versatile. I'm able to use it for small group instruction to remediate a skill while the rest of my class works on a separate assignment. It gives me a space where I can group my students, by common content misconception or degree of language proficiency.
However, and this is its principal use, I'm also able to use it as a peer-to-peer tutoring center! Children know they can go sit at our round table if they need help, and other children who understand the material their classmates are struggling with go over and work with them. I'm very fortunate that this space is now in our classroom, because I'm getting to see first-hand the effect it has on my students' learning. Kids who just wouldn't understand a concept or skill, no matter how many times I explained it to them, sometimes understand it so much better when a peer explains it to them. Not only that, but when I have children assume the "peer" role in these interactions, without any instructions coming from me, their confidence increases, they also better understand the material, and it increases their individual growth.
Having this wonderful resource in my classroom has allowed my students to take ownership over their own learning, be more responsible and helpful towards their peers, and learn that it's okay to ask for help. Thank you so much for your donation. It's making a world of difference.”

Funded Aug 6, 2018Thank you for the standing tables that you sent our classroom. They helped my students feel more at ease in the classroom and improved their focus and concentration! Students come to my class from different linguistic backgrounds, different levels of knowledge from previous grade levels, and with different learning styles. These standing tables allowed me to augment the seating arrangements I had in my class, promoting more flexible groupings of students based on English language skills, content knowledge, and learning style!
In one of my classes, these standing desks serve as part of collaborative English Language Learner stations, where they are placed like podiums around a cluster of normal desks. The ESOL students rotate form their desks to the podium to take turns reading from texts out loud or silently. In another class, the desks were used as podiums in a remediation setting, where I now had the flexibility to split my children who are not performing on grade level into smaller groups, and then team up those groups with students who are performing on grade level who instruct them from the podiums. My classroom looked like a series of mini-classrooms with students teaching and learning from each other, with only minimally supervision from myself. It was wonderful to look at. Finally, I was able to use these desks to cater to the learning needs of my kinesthetic learners. These are the kids who just can't sit still, who need to fidget or move. For them, being sat down in a desk and told not to move and pay attention is a punishment, and understanding the material can be challenging for them in these traditional settings. Using the standing tables, however, I could have my kinesthetic learners standing at these tables at the back of the class, without obstructing anyone, while they were jumping up and down in excitement. They were paying attention and participating, and I'm very happy I was able to give them this opportunity.
In short, thank you so much for your generous donations that allowed me to fund this project. It made so much of a difference in my classroom. I'm thankful, and so are my students!”

Ms. Carla
