Mathletes Need to Be on Top of their Math Game!
Funded Aug 28, 2012Dear Kia Motors America,
I cannot fully express my gratitude for the dry erase boards, markers, and board organizers you donated to my classroom. They help alleviate eraser mistakes and student frustration.
I am truly blessed this year with amazing students. Despite the economic hardships surrounding them, everyday they come to class excited and ready to learn mathematics. It is because of donations from organizations like yourself that I am able to have a warm and welcoming classroom environment in my math class.
In the back of my classroom is a help station. During classwork time I sit here - where there is a rug on the floor, cushions to sit on, dry eraser boards to practice on, and where small group instruction from the teacher is given. Students are excited to get help when struggling, not only because they are able to understand a topic that was previously confusing, but because they get to use dry erase boards and markers to help grasp the concept.
Thank you again for your generous donation.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Cardus
This classroom project was brought to life by Kia Motors America and one other donor.Math Corner - Not Just Numbers Are Important in Math Class
Funded Sep 2, 2009This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. The dry erase boards and markers you donated help my students every single day. My students become so excited about math when they see their own personal dry erase boards and markers come off of our back table for them to do their own work on. Furthermore, I have seen their frustration levels decrease drastically since they no longer have to erase their pencil markings on loose-leaf over and over again when working on a difficult problem.
Our school, like many others, is currently facing an extremely tight budget which allows for limited resources. The dry erase boards hold each student accountable for completing their assigned problems. When students hold up their boards, it is easier for me to see where they are making mistakes and what areas they are still struggling in. In this age of standardized testing, it is extremely important that each student is held accountable for his or her own success and the dry erase boards allow for this to happen.
It is because of donors like you that students throughout the United States are able to get the most from their learning experience.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Cardus
Junior Mathletes Need New Scoreboards!
Funded Aug 21, 2009This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. The books you donated help my students every single day. We have used them before learning about a new topic to hook us on what we are about to learn, to reinforce classroom concepts, and to read about what interests us during our "math choice" time. When looking into the classroom, the math corner is filled with reading books thanks to you.
Our school, like many others, is currently facing an extremely tight budget which allows for limited resources. Having books for students to read when they finish their work and to challenge themselves with logic puzzles like Sudoku makes the learning experience more enjoyable and productive for my students. In this age of standardized testing, having the ability to explore math concepts on ones own is a much needed relief that the students welcome instead of constantly working toward a test.
It is because of donors like you that students throughout the United States are able to get the most from their learning experience.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Cardus
