  • Warm Heads, Warm Hearts

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

Thanks to the kindness and generosity of our Donors Choose community our students were able to receive warm hats for winter. A large number of our students come to the United States with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Our students were able to keep warm walking to and from school in the NY cold weather.

Our students were so appreciative of your support. They aren't used to getting something brand new for themselves so this was a great thing.

It truly takes a village to help raise children and I'm so grateful you chose to help ours.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Carboni

  • Art and History go together like PB and J

    Funded Aug 31, 2023

Thank you so very much for your generous donation to my class. I am blessed that Social Studies lends itself to being creative and using art to infuse learning. My one class that has truly benefited from your generosity is my students who do not speak English. They are able to illustrate and draw what they learn. They may not be able to speak or articulate what they learn however they can certainly draw it out. They have drawn some amazing pieces. They especially love the Crayola pieces skin color tones because they feel represented.

It truly takes a village and I am so blessed and grateful you chose mine.”

  • Who Says Your to Young to Play Games?

    Funded Aug 31, 2023

Thank you so very much for your generous donations to my classroom. My students love being able to come up to the class and play games especially as it is getting cold out. Sometimes my students do not like to be in a large crowd so they like the quiet environment of my room.

This also encourages students from different classes to intermingle and interact with each other. Students who usually do not get to spend time together because they are in different classes now get the opportunity to interact.

It truly takes a village and I am so blessed and grateful you chose mine to bless.”

  • Always Listening, Always Learning

    Funded Aug 31, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom. As a Social Studies teacher I am always posting videos that will enhance the students learning. We always use different platforms to help improve academic deficits that the students may have.

The earbuds allow for students to be listening to various different videos and resources that they need to in order to be successful academically without students interrupting each other. Students also are given the incentive to listen to music if they are doing independent work and also the right thing.

Thank you so much for choosing my classroom to bless.”

  • Active Learning with Flexible Seating

    Funded Aug 31, 2023

My students were shocked at the new resources because they are so used to having to sit in the seat for several hours during the school day. They were so excited to learn that they can use these as a need basis and also earn some of the seats as privileges for doing the right thing.

Since covid our students have some issues with focusing. They are children they need to move- they thrive with moving around. These seats allow them to function and pay attention and focus better.

Our students know that it is another opportunity to help them learn better and ultimately thrive. Thank you so much once again for blessing my classroom.”

  • When Old School Paper and Pen Works Well

    Funded Aug 23, 2023

Thank you for your kindness in donating to my class project. My students are so appreciative of everything they are given.

We live in a post covid world and in schools we heavily rely on technology to work on students academic deficits. Most of my students however, benefit from the traditional way of learning with reading from a paper and taking notes on the paper to improve on skills such as cause and effect, reading comprehension and note taking skills.

Thanks to your donation, my students have now not only have access to printer paper for various resources such as tests and short responses, I can now color code my assignments so each student knows what color they are and most importantly be an active member of their learning and know why they are given that modification.”

  • Feeling Confident on the Outside Will Help Feel Confident Inside

    Funded Aug 18, 2023

Thank you so much for your kindness in donating to my project. Middle school is a tricky time for kids. They are going through so many changes and emotions. It is hard for them to share how they are feeling. By your kindness we have eliminated one less thing for them to worry about.

My students appreciate wholeheartedly that they can come into my room at any given time and pick out whatever they need. They have taken the brushes and combs. They have asked to take extra for younger brothers and sisters. If this is one less stress they have to worry about then I have done my job :)

Many of my students are literally brand new to the country. To have something as simple as a comb or brush may seem minor to many but to them it gives them a sense of confidence and willingness that they can in fact conquer anything that they are faced in the outside world.”

  • Bored in Social Studies-Not with Whiteboards and Markers!

    Funded Aug 1, 2023

My students and I are so grateful for your generosity. My students love sharing their answers and the whiteboards and markers. They love using the different colors to write their work down.

They like picking which color they are using to complete the work. They like using their artistic abilities to respond to the tasks. Many of my students, especially my students who do not speak English are visual learners. The white boards and markers are perfect for them to translate from their native languages to English.

    Thank you so much!”

  • Binders and Dividers Help Us Stay Organized

    Funded Aug 3, 2023

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity for our class. My students were able to have the necessary binders and dividers the first day of school. They were able to be organized and ready to learn from day one. This allowed them a sense of confidence that they could take on the world.

My students come from various economic backgrounds. Some have to worry about where their next meal comes from. This is something that no child needs to or should worry about. Their parents have such difficult decisions about whether to provide for their education or ultimately at times feed them. Thank you for eliminating this difficult decision for my students.”

  • Birthday Cheer Goes A Long Way

    Funded Aug 1, 2023

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom! In this day in age, social emotional needs of children is so crucial for their academic success. For my students, their birthday is just a typical day and can go unrecognized. They dont get the birthday wishes or a special breakfast that so many of us may be accustomed to do for our families or have done for us when we were children.

They look forward to getting their pencil, certificate and bracelet. We make it a big deal in class by shouting out the birthdays and celebrating each of us. I try to encourage our students to focus on the positives and acknowledge that each of us brings something important to the table and we should all be celebrated :)”

My students are the greatest. Despite their challenges they face at home, they come in yearning for knowledge. Many of them have difficulty learning by reading. For them, in order to succeed, they need to learn by watching. These videos will provide the necessary instruction needed for them to succeed. My school is a high needs high poverty area school. For many of my students, they will be the first ones graduating eighth grade. For others, they will be the first to go to high school. Many are surrounded by negative energy and obstacles. By donating to my project, you are showing my students that the public is interested and share a genuine concern for them. You are saying that they are important in society and that they have every right to learn despite challenges they may face. You are giving them an opportunity for a very important freedom....knowledge.
