  • All That Glitters - Make Our Makerspace Shine

    Funded Nov 15, 2024

am so grateful for your generous contribution to our classroom. Thanks to your support, my students have had the opportunity to engage in some truly exciting and transformative projects. Your donation has provided resources that have not only enhanced their learning but also allowed them to express their creativity and individuality in ways I never imagined.

One of the most impactful projects we worked on was creating custom jewelry that incorporated personal symbolism and celebrated each student's unique identity. When my students first saw the variety of acrylic and jewelry materials, their excitement was contagious! It was incredible to watch them dive into the design process, using advanced techniques in Illustrator to bring their visions to life. With the help of our new laser cutter, they were able to create professional-quality pieces that truly reflected their personalities and creativity.

But the project didn't stop there. After creating their jewelry, we had a photoshoot where students took on roles as both photographers and models, capturing their designs in a way that was fun and empowering. It was amazing to see their confidence soar as they not only created something beautiful but also had the chance to tell their own stories through their designs and the photos they took. They were thrilled with the final results and proud of their work, which was exactly the experience I'd hoped for when we began.

Looking ahead, we're continuing to build on these skills. Our next step is to dive into more complex design projects, using the tools and techniques they've learned to explore even more advanced concepts in digital art and craftsmanship. I am so excited to see how their creativity continues to blossom with the resources you've made possible.

Thank you again for your generosity and belief in my students. You've helped them gain new skills, build confidence, and express themselves in ways that are truly inspiring. We're looking forward to all the projects and moments ahead!”

    With gratitude,

  • Color My World

    Funded Dec 31, 2023

Thank you so much for supporting my class and students. With this project I was able to purchase a color printer for my classroom. We have used this over and over already supporting projects and allowing me to be flexible.

Our most recent project was a research project where students identified significant African American contributors to history, we looked at primary source documents and created portraits. We printed many copies of many historical photos and used them in the portraits. The portraits now line our hallways in the school.

Having things like printers in the classroom might not seem like a big deal but it allows me as a teacher the flexibility to engage each student differently and immediately.

Again, thank you so much, your support is so important to my students and my self.”

  • Modern Fabrication Project

    Funded Nov 3, 2023

Thank you so much for your kind donation to my classroom. We have been able to create and fabricate like never before.

My students had never seen a laser cutter in action and it opened up a whole new world of art and design. Creating professional quality projects and inventions.

We are using the Laser Cutter and all of the materials to create one of a kind works. The class as whole designed and cut lantern style lamps using the wood and rice paper. To accomplish this, we had to learn design software as well as construction techniques. this has ignited the excitement I had hope to see in my students. I can't wait to see what else we can do.”

  • Fashion Arts Dressforms

    Funded Mar 3, 2015

Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom. My students are very excited to get the chance to work with dress forms. We recently finished a non conventional materials challenge which asked them to work in groups and make a garment out of newspaper. Many of them felt this was the most creative they have ever been in school. They used the dress forms and the scissors to craft their awesome designs. I will continue to encourage them to be college and career ready. Giving the access to equipment like the dress forms and the seamstress scissors allows them to have a taste of fashion professional.

I am building my program and continually try to find opportunities for my students. These supplies will last for years to come. My students and I truly value what you have given us.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Canning

I teach High School Students that are very unique and expressive. In my art classes, we began small hand sewing projects and the students loved it. We have been working on fashion using non conventional materials and are trying to get enough equipment and materials to move onto traditional fashion materials. I teach predominantly young ladies. The school has a very diverse mix of Black, white, Asian, and Latino.
