  • Motivational Munchies and Hand Sanitizer

    Funded Mar 17, 2025

Thank you so much for your generous support of our students. This giant bottle of hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes, and the individually wrapped rice Krispy treats were all immediately put to good use in the classroom. The case of wipes is so large, I was able to distribute several packs of wipes to other teachers in the building, who are out of cleaning supplies. The wipes helped everyone stay a little cleaner. They were extremely grateful for your donation, as well. The treats are being distributed to our after school music students, who are extremely dedicated and loyal to the program, and need a snack by the time the classes begin. Thanks again for helping us out with these essential and practical items.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Patton

  • Animal Crackers on Parade

    Funded Mar 4, 2025

Thank you for providing our students with these fun animal cracker snacks and juice, as well as hand sanitizer to keep good habits, especially when eating. The snacks are greatly appreciated by our students, who are hungry and in need of some extra motivation this time of year. Animal crackers are a fun, educational, and 'healthy-ish' snack which have our little learners talking about different animal species. Thanks again for helping out young children in a low-income urban environment with these highly motivational snacks.”

  • Sultan, Jasmine, and the Magic Lamp

    Funded Feb 17, 2025

Thank you so much for helping us to put on a wonderful musical with your generous donation. These Jasmine and Sultan costumes have delighted our cast members. The students' eyes lit up when they saw the costumes! We tried them on and did one rehearsal where the kids got to wear the costumes. Wearing the costume made their acting come alive! We are so excited to perform 'Aladdin' this spring. Thank you, generous donors and friends, for bringing us these Jasmine and Sultan costumes and the magic lamp we need for the play in May.”

  • Popcorn Party

    Funded Feb 20, 2025

Thank you so much for bringing popcorn parties to life at Gillespie! Winter is getting dreary, and we are entering testing season. This carton of popcorn and huge supply of plastic cups will bring tons of joy, excitement, and nourishment to our students this winter and spring. Thank you for feeding and providing this exciting incentive to our students. Many of the kids struggle academically due to a variety of factors. Popcorn parties have brought an element of fun into the class, and have made kids like coming to school.”

  • Motivational Munchies

    Funded Feb 20, 2025

Thank you so much for supporting our students with these motivational munchies! The students are delighted to have big boxes of cheese it crackers in individual sized bags, as well as Capri Sun pouches. These snacks will be a lifesaver during this lead-up into spring break, and will help motivate during testing. They will also be handed out to our deserving and dedicated cast members of the school musical during rehearsals leading up to the performance. Thanks again for helping us feed students. They will be so happy to have snacks.”

  • Winter Warm-Up

    Funded Jan 28, 2025

Thank you for providing our littlest students with a 'winter warmup!' The gloves were passed out last Friday, just in time for a cold blast that brought wind chills below zero into the area. The bigger gloves were offered as 'prizes' to our middle schoolers, many of whom chose gloves over a candy treat: this shows that the gloves were truly needed. Thank you for the popcorn and Goldfish crackers, as well. We have had several popcorn parties in the past weeks, including a special one for Valentine's Day. Thanks to your generosity, our students have enjoyed popcorn and warm winter gloves this year.”

  • Piano Lessons for All

    Funded Feb 5, 2025

Thanks so much for bringing 3 more piano keyboards and music stands to our music classroom. The students love learning how to play the piano. Now, we have enough to go around! The pianos have been used during a keyboarding unit for our primary students who are learning to play nursery rhyme melodies using Piano K books. Our 4-8th graders have been using the pianos and books during 'choice' time for early finishers. Everyone has been enjoying and learning a lot. Thank you for helping our students learn how to read music and play the piano.”

  • The Language of Music

    Funded Dec 17, 2024

I can't thank you enough for your generous gift of music books for our students. These books have already had a positive impact on student learning. Learning to read music has a positive impact on every aspect of our student's lives, starting with their self esteem and confidence. Learning to read music is a huge skill that has been attainable, thanks to your generous gift. The keyboard books especially have delighted our students, because they have provided music at a just-right level for our learners to experience success. The clarinet books have also been greatly appreciated by the students. Thank you again for helping to build a music library at Gillespie school.”

  • Let's Read About Jazz

    Funded Dec 29, 2024

Thank you so much for supporting this project! These books have already brought so much joy to our music classes in the new year. 'Gotta Be Jazz' has especially delighted our students. The book and audio tracks have introduced our students to the world of jazz music, and given them a script and music to perform on the school stage during Black History Month. Thank you for bringing the joy and expression to our students with this delightful collection of books about jazz and sheet music. Music and literacy are a great pairing. Thanks again for helping me to provide a quality music program for deserving students in a low income urban public school.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Patton

  • Can I Get a Book, Please?

    Funded Dec 28, 2024

I can't thank you enough for your generous donation of band method books to our students. Our fifth graders just started playing the clarinet this year, and were thrilled to be able to bring their instrument and a book home to practice. These band books will reinforce the skills needed for a proper embouchure, reading rhythms, and beginning notes on the staff. Home practice has our students sharing their music learning journey at home with their parents. Thank you so much for your kind donation of beginning clarinet books.”

    With gratitude,
