My school campus is trying to shift from a punitive mindset to a restorative intervention model where we don't suspend students unless it is absolutely necessary. Part of this shift towards positive reinforcement is adopting a merit system where teachers/admin reward merits to students for behaviors that align to our school values (heart, justice, and growth) and IB learner profiles (risk-taker, communicator, thinker, etc.). Students can use their merits to "buy" rewards such as snacks, swag, toys, and privileges. These materials will be added to the school store for students to choose from.
