I have sixteen students who are in first through fourth grade. I have one child with autism and one student with an emotional disorder. I have many students who have been diagnosed with learning disabilities. The students are all functioning two grade levels below their peers in literacy. My students have a difficult time reading and many cannot read. I hope to help them develop a love of reading. At this point reading is more of a struggle than something they like to do. Our School is located on the southwest side of Chicago in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood. The poverty level is greater than 95%. The one thing they have in common is their love of technology. The students are excited to use technology because it is something they do not have access to at home for the most part.
