Snack Attack
Funded Jan 12, 2022Students that have consistent and loving environments flourish. Often this means that academic excellence is fostered by meeting some of the needs that our students maybe missing like meals and snacks.
Think about how "hangry" you get when you haven't eaten. Would you be inclined to keep working? No. That is why we are so grateful that you were able to donate and fund this project for snacks in the classroom. Our students receive breakfast and lunch at no charge but sometimes it's just not that appetizing. Therefore, it's helpful to be able to give them a Nutri-grain bar or a pick me up snack of popcorn or a granola bar to make it until dismissal.
Without your generosity, none of it would be possible. Thank you for being an Angel for Education for the students of the South Bronx!”

Funded Sep 23, 2021I know this thank you is long overdue but I wanted to say thank you so much for your kindness and generosity! This year has probably been one of the most challenging back to school scenes I have ever experienced as a teacher. Our students needed time to adjust to routines, practice showing kindness and opportunities to reignite their love for learning.
With your help, we were able to make impressive progress in reading and in math. Our students went from disengaged students to taking on challenging initiatives such as learning through diversity and finding their voices to combat injustice. None of this would have been possible without Angels for Education like you. Thank you so much!!”

Funded Jun 11, 2022Thank you for your generous donation. I wanted to make sure that our students had some books to take home and read over the summer. With your help every student went home with a book that was of interest for them to read. Our students made a huge amount of progress during this school year. In order to support them in maintaining that progress and not doing the "summer slide", we thought it best for each child to continue to have access to independently leveled books to try and prevent more gaps in learning.
We appreciate you all and thank you for being Angels for Education. My students have witnessed first hand the effects one person can have on their education because of you! Thanks a million!”

Health Supplies Are Running Low
Funded Dec 25, 2021Being back in the classroom was no short order during the 2021 - 2022 school year. Students had to learn new routines of existing and being productive in the classroom all while keeping each other safe.
Thanks to all of the donations we received we were able to come back to school in a safe and healthy way, ride the mid-winter surge of Omicron and get back to learning in the classroom. Students took initiative to wipe down desks daily with the Lysol Wipes, refill the hand soaps when they were running low as well as remind their peers to sanitize before grabbing or using common supplies.
Angels for Education like you were an essential part of our success this year and we are so grateful for your kindness and generosity. Thank you choosing our classroom to aid this school year!”

Funded Sep 12, 2021Our students have been working so hard to improve their reading. What makes this project so special is that the students collaboratively worked together to come up with books, topics, authors and genres that they were really interested in to add to our library.
Watching students use examples from their reading and apply it to the strategies that we use in school really shows how much student progress that is happening. This has been such a tumultuous year back from the pandemic but we have all met the setbacks head on.
Thank you so much for all of your support and for being an Angel for Education! Without all of your help none of this would be possible.”

But First a Snack!
Funded Sep 29, 2021Thank you so much for supporting snacks to our classroom! There have been countless times we have used these snacks and treats to boost morale as well as sent home a few extra breakfast bars to students that confided in us that there were additional needs for food at home. I believe this has helped our students be more open and to trust us when they have big feelings and just need an ear. Our students are amazing and for some we are the only consistency they have. Teaching in a pandemic is hard but knowing that our students are facing good insecurity during this time is harder. So I thank you for being an Angel for Education and I know my students thank you as well.”

Funded Sep 9, 2021Our students were thrilled to see so many diverse characters in the books they are reading this year. Authors like Jaqueline Woodson, graphic novelist Jerry Craft and Kwame Alexander have given rise to varied conversations about relatable experiences and social justice conversations that our students need and want to talk about. It is sad that it has taken this long for our students of color to have more diversity and choice in the texts that they read and be able to see themselves in the literature that they are given in school. Identity is so important and it must be prioritized. Thank you for helping me to create a culturally diverse library for my kids.”

Funded Oct 6, 2021We are well on our way into this new school year and so far we have all been HEALTHY!! The reason we have been so successful is because kind donors like you are helping to supplement our classrooms with the necessary quality products to do so. Every student knows the routing now. We have all become germ experts and look out for one another. Because we are consistently washing our hands, we do go through supplies rather quickly! My class and I send you virtual high fives and lots of gratitude for aiding us the ability to maintain our clean hands and personal areas. Thank you for being Angels for Education!”

Funded Aug 12, 2021Coming into this year we knew our number one priority was learning. But without safety measures to remain safe from Covid, colds and flu more learning will continue to be lost. Our students are in the routine of hand washing, hand sanitizing and cleaning up after themselves. It is like second nature now! We would not have been able to be as safe if it weren't for the additional supplies that you have helped to provide. Your kindness has taught my students and I that we are all in this together! Thank you again for being Angels for Education.”

Funded Sep 8, 2021Thank you ever so much for your kindness and generosity! My students are a mix of general education and special education students learning big mathematical concepts. My co-teacher and I then plan targeted small group instruction to help support their individual needs. The games and tools that your funds helped to purchase are allowing us to give students ways to deeply conceptualize number patterns, think abstractly and spark ways of problem solving that are not just rote memorization.
With out programs like Donors Choose and amazing supporters like you, teachers would not be able to help children become who they are meant to be. So thank you for supporting me and my students. We are so grateful for Angels for Education like you!”
