  • Watch Us Get Quacked Up!

    Funded Apr 25, 2023

Thank you so much for donating to our classroom! I cannot express how a well put together classroom helps students to feel safe and confident in a learning environment. For many of my students, school is the outlet that is the one constant that they can count on to have structure and boundaries.

With small touches like a carpet, decorated bulletin boards and take a break spaces students feel at ease and are willing to take risks. I want all of our students to feel welcomed. One of the best ways to do that is to create an environment that promotes community and safety.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being an Angel for Education!”

    Funded May 9, 2023

Thank you so much for you kind and generous gift to our classroom. Our students are amazing and are invested in maintaining the classroom environment so we can all stay happy, healthy and ready to learn. We have been blessed with thoughtful empathetic young scholars who know that taking care of one another A’s basic needs means that we all benefit. Thank you for being an Angel for Education!!”

  • Eat, Play and Learn

    Funded Sep 10, 2022

Our students sometimes do not know where their meals are coming from once they leave school for the day. We like to keep snacks and small pick me ups to make it through the day. This not only keeps our students focused but they look forward to a small treat midday. When little people get the "hangries" it can prevent learning, create behavior issues and block student motivation.

Seeing the students focus and thrive is the best and most rewarding part of our job as educators. We know our students and we care for our students not only academically but socially. So thank you for helping to keep them focused and happy!”

  • Starting Our Day With Mindfulness

    Funded Aug 13, 2022

Our Third Graders are the absolute best class in the school. They deserve everything! At the beginning of the year my co-teacher and I were so happy that we shared the same philosophy...students deserve to come into a welcoming classroom that allows them to begin their day with positivity and mindfulness. Allowing our children to opt into a soft ingress promotes self awareness and self regulation as we get in tune with how we are feeling and gearing up for a fun day of learning. Starting our day off in this way has also afforded my co-teacher and I to establish a personal rapport by participating in the mindfulness activities we have. Thank you again for supporting our little learners. They all are becoming more self aware of their feelings and learning ways of communicating effectively over interactive quiet play each morning.”

  • So Fresh and So Clean Clean!

    Funded Jul 17, 2022

Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom. We are off to an amazing and healthy start! So far this year we have been very fortunate that all of our students are healthy. Our attendance is strong which enables us to utilize as much learning time that we can with students and keep them from falling too far behind.

Our class has been following cleaning routines to ensure that we all stay safe from viruses and colds. We use our big supply of Lysol wipes, Paper Towels and Hand Soaps/Sanitizers daily.

We can not thank you enough for all that you do and continue to do for our amazing students in the South Bronx. Wishing you a healthy end to 2022!”

  • Hip Hip Hooray for Third Grade!

    Funded Jul 13, 2022

We cannot thank you enough for your generosity in getting updated books into our classroom library. My co-teacher and I research interesting, relatable stories that have protagonists that depict characters that look like them. For too long representation has been close to nonexistent with in our library. We know that if we want kids to read it needs to spark curiosity. We are determined to make significant reading gains by having students read in book clubs and providing Book Buzz Book Reviews! Thank you for choosing this project to donate to and most of all thank you for being an Angel for Education!”

  • Informed and Well Rounded Global Citizens

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Wow! What can I say but thank you! Equity is a huge focus for my co-teacher and I. Our students love seeing their cultures and customs discussed in this series of books. To see them engaged and thinking deeply about how the text relates to them or their peers has been a joy to see. We want our kids to feel empowered and to take pride in who they are. With donations to these books, you have given us a way to open up thoughtful discussions. Thank you so much for being an Angel for Education.”

  • Building Reading Stamina

    Funded Jan 28, 2022

What can we say other than how grateful we were to have been able to further develop our in class library! The books chosen were intentionally picked with the current reader's interests in mind. The students in my class kept a log of books they were wishing for and they were flabbergasted to see so many of the titles physically available to read. Reading doesn't come easily or naturally to everyone but having interesting storylines and relevant, relatable characters that reflect my students identities made it easier to teach students to be more proficient. Thank you for being an Angel for Education! We truly are grateful.”

  • Happy, Healthy and Reporting for Duty

    Funded Jan 5, 2022

The last school year was a healthy success because of your thoughtfulness and generosity! Our 5th grade class had high attendance throughout the year because your funding helped to provide Lysol wipes, paper towels, hand soap and environmentally friendly single use utensils. The students took pride in cleaning their area everyday. They knew that it was all of our responsibility to take care of one another. By the middle of the school year they needed no reminders to clean up after themselves and even took it a step further and replaced items when they were running low. Thank you for choosing us to be the recipients of your kindness! Both the students and I know none of this would have been possible without support from Angels for Education like you.”

  • Not Your Ordinary Rainy Day Recess

    Funded Dec 24, 2021

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Because of you and your generosity, my students had creative games and art supplies to keep them busy when we were unable to go out side for recess due to weather or unsafe conditions. All students need an outlet to just be kids as well as let their creativity flow. They had a lot of fun learning how to make latchwork carpets, create their own magnets, design their own bird houses and wind chimes. Seeing them interact on a

more personal level with their peers was heartwarming.

Thank you for being an Angel for Education and choosing our class to donate funding to!”

Being a teacher in the Bronx you really notice educational inequities that exist. Not only do we want our students to have varied texts to discuss character traits, themes and main ideas we want them to be able to bridge what they read to lessons they learned in school through another persons perspective. New books for our students can be hard to come by. My co-teacher and I want to surprise our students with a host of new titles for them to enjoy in class and at home. My students are really excited to improve their reading skills this year. Being an ICT class can be challenging for my co-teacher and I. We have a wide range of leveled reading learners this year and want to provide challenging texts that promote curiosity and support a love of reading. Our goal is to get an appropriate leveled book in the hands of every student. Our children are thirsty for knowledge and they come ready to learn everyday. Help us fan the fires of curiosity!
