I want to provide inspiration to students by using colorful visuals, and remove whatever hindrances to student learning I can. The colorful Wobble Chairs take student focus off the need to release extra physical energy; it will affirm students in knowing that learning is strategy, and there is no shame in problem solving – solving problems is a life skill.
The color copier/scanner will encourage students, especially English Language Learners and low performing students, to take risks and persevere.
Colorful pictures will help students to study vocabulary, to better relate to the topic, recognize details, provide opportunity for deeper discussion with peers, and offer an object to describe and write about scientifically and mathematically. A color printer/scanner also gives the option to send home color directions, models, and examples I create in class (including on the board or using the projector), to students who will most benefit (those with learning disabilities or who are low performing, for example).
I have no access to a color printer on our school campus; there’s no copy machine in the building I am in; my classroom is located upstairs and a color copier will help to provide instant resources for students to take home that day, and allow students to stay on track with the whole class, building confidence in students who would normally fall behind because they need another medium to help them learn.
Students will respect the learning opportunities and will be inspired to give their all daily in the clean healthy colorful learning environment. When a classroom adapts to the needs of students, learning becomes much easier, and students thrive personally and academically.
