Supporting Savvy Scientists
Funded May 10, 2024Science and math are two of our favorite subjects in our Montessori classroom. We used your donations to order some non fiction science books about life cycles, atlases and models of life cycles. We also were lucky to have gotten more magnetic tiles (you can truly never have enough magnets!!) and some work we can do to learn about planets.
Our favorite thing has to be the planets model that we can manipulate and turn on to spin. Our boys are fascinated by the dwarf planets!!!
Some of the materials we originally ordered were unavailable but we did our best to find replacements. We are still using these materials that we were gifted with last school year....your donation has helped 36 of our students rather than only 18!!!!!
We wish you well!!!”

Ms. Bruce

Funded Apr 18, 2024Our students are thriving this fall and are working hard on their pre reading and writing skills. We use so many varieties of writing tools each and every day. We are so happy to be able to enhance our learning with all of the materials you donated to our classroom!
We are a Montessori classroom with preK and K students. Some of our materials came in the spring, while the rest was delivered in the fall. Our K students were with us last year so they have been fortunate to have used these supplies for two school years.
We again thank you for these much needed materials for our students. It most definitely takes a village to raise a child❤️”

Funded Dec 18, 2023Our old cots were just so old and overused. Our students were so excited to have these beautiful new green cots!!!
When the boxes came, they couldn't figure out what they were. I actually heard squealing when the boxes opened!!!
We are in an older school in a new program so there were many things that had been left from a previous preK program. These cots actually brightened the room instantly😎
It is so important that our students have a chance to rest their brains and bodies during quiet time. Thank you again for supporting them and helping us to grow!!!”

Funded Apr 3, 2023We are so thankful for this listening center!
My teaching assistant and I recently moved to a new school in our district. We use these tools every day for a variety of reasons. Most students listen to stories on CDs that we have heard during large group time. Other days we play different music CDs, sometimes classical other times Disney or other kids music.
This year we have nine preschoolers and nine Kindergarteners. They work together in their learning and it's a joy to watch.
We are so very grateful for your support and thoughtfulness.”

Funded Apr 3, 2023Well, you fabulous donors have done it once again!!! The books that were gifted to us have been a HUGE help with our preK students and their pre-reading skills.
They recently took an assessment in Kindergarten and scored as high as upper kindergarten students. It is only September!!!
Literacy is such a large part of our preschool and kindergarten curriculum. Our students come to us sometimes not knowing letters or how to write their name or even recognize their name in print. Preschool changes all of that during the year. We read books every day, we place their names on their mailboxes, cubbies and cots. We change the books in our library to keep them interested and motivated.
Your gift helped this group of children to build and add to their own home libraries. We made sure to select books that they have been exposed to in our classroom. Repetition teaches children many, many things.
Thank you so very much for your thoughtfulness, your support and your love.
You are helping children love to read and to learn.”

Funded Dec 5, 2022We are so very thankful that this wishlist was fulfilled. We use so many materials in our Art Area on a daily basis.
When our secretary brought the boxes into the classroom, the students were amazed and curious! We opened them and immediately put them in our art storage area.
The Mosaic Creations Designer was the biggest surprise of all. The students have to read color codes to make the pictures come to light. There are so many varieties of pictures and so many different levels to create designs. This game is played with each and every day in our classroom. Such an awesome fine motor skills tool for little growing hands!
Once again, thank you for your generosity and kindness. Without donors like you, we would not be able to challenge and engage our learners with our lack of supplies.”

Funded Nov 30, 2021We were so excited when this package came in the mail!!
We are transitioning to Kindergarten this fall and we feel like bigger kids with our Scholastic Readers. We read them in our small group and then take the copy home to share with our families. Parents are excited to see them and have their children share what they have learned at school.
Of course, they immediately recognized Clifford the Big Red Dog on the cover. Characters in reading are so important for students our age.
This year's class, I must say, is pretty advanced as far as early literacy skills. Many of them know their letters and some know a lot of sounds. All 17 students can write their name and enjoy drawing in their journals, creating art projects in the art area, and they most especially love reading books from our classroom library.
In my 30 years of teaching early childhood, I learned quickly to read books that I get excited about so that my students will also share that excitement! Whenever I read a book, it immediately goes into the class library and I strive to have extra copies of it if it is especially popular!!! (Abiyoyo, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, Knuffle Bunny, Green Eggs and Ham, for example). Thank you again for your support and kindness.”

Funded Aug 29, 2021We have used so much of the art supplies that were part of this project!!!! Our art area is open during choice time and sometimes its quiet with only a few students at a time.
When this project was funded, EVERYONE was so excited to see all of the new things to create at the art tables.
Watercolors are used nearly every single day. Watercolor paper is very heavy and expensive but I often ask other teachers or DC because the creations are amazing. The colors really stand out and mixing colors turns out beautifully. Last year, due to Covid, we had to label the watercolor paints with each child's name. They learn independence skills by choosing their own paints, getting a bowl for water, and a sheet of watercolor paper.
The playdough in smaller containers and playdough mats were a HUGE hit with our parents last year when they were sent home during online learning. We made so many creations, especially alphabet letters, with these materials.
Again, we thank you for your generosity and thoughtfulness. It takes a village to raise a child and this village is extremely grateful.”

Funded Apr 12, 2021Our families were so excited to be gifted these awesome picture books to add to their child's home library. When the boxes came to school, I showed them to the students and then I thought of a idea. When my now 23 year-old son was in preschool, his teacher ordered the class books and had them sign their names on the inside cover. She also added the date to it. I recently found several of his books of his and it brought me to tears. I remember how he would write his name in all of his books after she taught him and his classmates this in preschool.
I had each child sign their name and the I had several parents thank me for having their child write their names. I now have some of their siblings in my class and I plan on doing the same for them, as well.
My hope is to encourage and create lifelong readers and learners by starting this tradition with my students and families.
We are extremely grateful for these gifts from our donors!!! It truly takes a village to raise a child.”

Funded Feb 12, 2021Our families were so excited to receive these materials!!!! We made gift bags for all of our students and delivered them to their homes. We were gifted magna tiles, fruit counters, dry erase markers and transportation counters. We used these materials during small group instruction where parents and other family members helped students participate during online learning.
Our families were so thankful to have so many great manipulatives to enhance their learning!!! Our students improved their language skills, their counting, patterning, and had fun while learning.”
