Musical Mallets
Funded Oct 26, 2022Students were absolutely thrilled to finally get to play our xylophones because of the new mallets this project helped to fund. When they walked in the classroom and the instruments were set up to play instead of on the back wall like usual, I could see the excitement in their faces!
We are using the variety of mallets to allow a whole class to play mallet instruments at the same time, which is truly a gift! In these pictures, kindergarten students got to play a glockenspiel for the first time with a familiar song they had been singing.
We are so thankful for your generosity and donation. Next semester, we will be working on more complex and exciting music using these mallets, and we can't wait!”

Funded Aug 24, 2022My students and I are already using the new resources we've received. I have played our large tubano drum for all classes to hear, and they love moving around the room and stepping to the beat with it. Several students have already gotten the chance to try drumming on it, and their excitement was palpable!
When students first saw that we added another "friend" (puppet) to our collection, they were so excited! The turtle puppet purchased from this project will help young students with the concept of "slow" in music.
For next steps, I will be pulling engaging singing and movement activities out of the 2 books purchased, and I know students will love those lessons!”

Having a Blast in Music Class!
Funded Mar 9, 2022My students absolutely adored receiving these resources. They were so excited when they first saw the new drums and tambourines- we have never had beautiful drums like these before! Many of my students also loved looking through the picture books we got through this project, and learning about famous musicians in history.
One of the best things from this project was our pillows and pillow covers for our calm corner. The students love using that space to regulate and relax, and the pillows have been an amazing addition to that. Thank you!!”

Bookin' It Through Music Class!
Funded Jul 27, 2020We are so grateful for all of our new music classroom books! These books have provided my classes with a variety of new lessons and activities. Some of the books have introduced important musicians to my students, like Celia Cruz, Ritchie Valens, and Ludwig Beethoven.
Other books provide a foundation for musical creativity and expression. Books like "Click Clack Moo: Cows That Type," "The Listening Walk," and "Jabari Jumps" have text that works well with instrument improvisation. During these creative lessons, I read the text aloud while students play on different instruments when they hear certain words or rhythmic patterns.
In the music classroom, reading often looks like reading text aloud in a rhythmic or poetic way, and then adding purposeful sound effects. The books we received from this project opened up many musical and historical doors to my students. Thank you all so very much!”

Mrs. Womack
