Get Your Teach On!
Funded May 13, 2019I can not express how truly grateful I am for your generosity to help fund this project! I can not believe I am really going to the Get Your Teach On National Conference! I know I will learn so many new ideas, tips, and strategies! Attending the GYTO Conference is a dream of mine and I can not wait to share my experience with all of you! Thank you again!”

Funded Feb 8, 2017Thank you so much for your generosity towards my classroom. The Toon Graphic Novels we received are so engaging for all of my students. They have colorful illustrations and have texts at a large range of reading levels. My students are currently obsessed with graphic novels, so these texts have increased reading engagement among all readers. My reluctant readers are even interested in these books. Some of my students love these books so much that they have started writing their own short story graphic novels to continue the story in their books. This is so cool that they have initiated this action on their own. Thank you again for your generosity!”

Funded Dec 29, 2016Hello donors, I am so thankful for your generous donations to help fund our set of 3Doodlers! Our class loves using these 3Doodlers to help create their ideas in a 3 dimensional form. Students first tried creating their names in cursive during the teacher directed lessons. Then, I allowed my students some time to freely create 3 dimensional objects on their own. My students were so excited to have a chance to create without restrictions! Some students tried making flowers and others made glasses. My students beg to use these 3D pens all of the time. Thank you again for your donations!”

Funded Oct 4, 2014My students were extremely excited about receiving an iPad to use in the classroom. At this point, our class has used the iPad, primarily to supplement out technology resources in the classroom during centers. As soon as more technology is available in the spring, we will will be adding options for using the iPad in our writing center and in our listening center. In both centers, students will be able to scan different cards with QR codes on them to take them to the book or writing piece for the day. We are extremely excited to incorporate this piece of technology into our classroom. We are very thankful for this wonderful gift in our classroom!”

Reading Comes Alive with Daily 5: Start Up!
Funded Feb 19, 2014Hello donors! I am finally able to say my new group of students were able to get to use the tools funded by you to start up Daily 5 in our classroom! My students were surprised to find out that they would be getting their own totes to use to house their books for independent reading and their reading response and writing journals.
My students are using the totes as book bags to store books and journals. We will be adding additional tools to the bag as the years go on. These additional tools could be additional writing tools, comprehension cards, or anything else students would need to help them with reading and writing. The best part of the project are the 3M Command Hooks to hang the books on. These hooks provide the perfect space for my students to keep their books bags. Students hang the bags on the wall, which takes up very little space!
I can't thank you enough for your generosity!”

MakerBot to the Rescue!
Funded Nov 22, 2013My students were a little confused when I told them what they were going to be getting in their classroom. Most of the students and staff members at my school had never heard of a 3D printer before. Coincidentally, our weekly reader (news source) had an article on a young boy that designed an artificial hand for himself (with the help of his father) on a 3D printer. We read the article just before the printer arrived in our school
My students and I are using this 3D printer to create manipulatives for the classroom because we didn't have much time at the end of the year to really dive into more than that! I have been researching projects to incorporate into the curriculum this coming year.
This project boosted my students' learning by providing an extremely engaging learning experience for them.
We are all thankful for funding of this project!”

Funded Nov 12, 2013First of all, I still can not believe how many people came together to help get this funded. We could not have had our project, Publishing Poets funded without each and every one of you! A special thanks goes out to Caring Classrooms for promoting our project!
My students were extremely excited to receive all of the poetry books for our poetry unit. My students' favorite poems came from the Shel Silverstein books. Not only did these books have some well known classics, but they also included CDs of Shel Silverstein reading many of the classics in his unique voice. The CDs really brought the poems to life! In addition to huge box full of inspirational poetry, were the supplies for the students to create their own poem books. I did not tell my students what we were doing with the materials until after I bound the pages together and handed them out! What a surprise they had on their faces!
Thank you again for all that you do!”

Reading Is Thriller With American Chiller!
Funded Oct 22, 2013I can not thank you enough for helping me fund this project! My class was extremely excited to see a box full of new books for our our classroom library. I know they say, "don't judge a book by its cover," but these books instantly grabbed my students' attention with the covers alone. Once my class started reading these books, they were an instant hit!
This project boosted student learning by providing high interest text for my students to engage in during their silent reading time. When students are motivated by high interest texts, their comprehension improves.
Thank you again for this wonderful opportunity!”
