  • Have Bass, Will Travel

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

These new bass bags are so wonderful to have! When we go to another school site or venue for a concert, it puts my mind at ease knowing that our expensive instruments are protected as they get transported. As I'm sure you're well aware, instruments are quite an investment, so protecting them is critical if we want to get many years of use out of them.

Our young student bassists now have a sense of pride when carrying their instrument into a venue. They walk in assuredly and confidently, and these new bass bags look amazing in their hands!

    Thanks again.”

  • We're In Need Of a Tune Up!

    Funded Dec 4, 2024

On behalf of my students, thank you so much for your donations to help us purchase new tuners! Students in all my instrumental classes have been putting them to good use before and during rehearsal. I've noticed improvement in our intonation, and students are much more aware of their pitch and how it blends with the rest of the ensemble.

These tuners are wonderful to have, as many more students can use them. Our previously purchased supply was getting depleted due to them breaking, or sadly walking off with students. We're glad to be restocked, and the fact that they're rechargeable is extra wonderful.

    Thanks again.”

  • Help Us Shoulder the Job!

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

Thank you so much for your help with our Donors Choose project, which helped us purchase shoulder rest storage bags! These small bags have been a game-changer in helping my students be prepared for class. Now that they have their shoulder rests clipped to their cases in these bags, there hasn't been a single day that a shoulder rest has been forgotten in the backpack or at home. Plus, their shoulder rests are now protected from being broken in their backpacks.

Having your support means a lot to my students and I. So often, my students are experiencing trials and tribulations outside the room, but thanks to you, they won't have to worry about having the right materials for class.

    Thanks again.”

  • Help Us Make a Stand for Music!

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donations to our project so we could by new music stands! Having the proper equipment in good, functional shape is so critical to our young musicians' progress and helping them to build good habits.

Teachers, and music teachers especially, are miracle workers when it comes to getting by with minimal supplies. We are some of the best "MacGyver" folks you'll ever meet. Thanks to you, I won't have to "MacGyver" a broken stand into working, or visit the hardware store to get a supply of nuts, bolts, and black spray paint to try and resurrect a music stand just so we can have enough for rehearsal.

Thank you for making my life easier and allowing me to do my job better!”

  • Help My Students to "Reed" Even More!

    Funded May 12, 2024

Thank you so much for helping us purchase new reeds! So many young musicians learn about the fragility of a reed the hard way, usually by banging it against something, or accidentally hitting it with their teeth when they go to play. Having a chipped or splintered reed is not good on so many levels, since out students could get a splinter in their tongue (ouch!), and the sound of the instrument isn't as good as it could be.

Your purchase of new reeds helps us avoid all this and sound our best, and by allowing me to replace a reed at a moment's notice keeps our music playing without any stopping! Students are happy to retire their broken and splintered reeds to our "Reed Graveyard".

Thank you for helping us "reed"!”

  • Help Us To Keep Calm and Carry On!

    Funded Mar 27, 2024

Thank you so much. With your generous contributions, the social and emotional health of my students can be addressed and helped.

When I told my students what was happening with this empty spot in the room, there were exclamations like "How cool!" and "Man, I could've used that last week!" They've really enjoyed seeing what fidgets and calming items are in the corner, and they are helping to "break in" the bean bag. :)

Our class mascot Dvořák the Dolphin now has a place in the Calming Corner and sits in the bean bag and keeps watch over our rehearsals.

I've already had a few kids make use of the corner and the fidgets. After spending time in the Calming Corner, they're visibly more focused and ready to return to rehearsal.

    Again, thank you!”

  • Put a Bow on It - With Strings Attached!

    Funded Mar 27, 2024

Thank you so much for your donations and help in getting new strings and bows for my orchestra classes. It's such a relief to know that should a string break, I can easily replace it and there will be no gap in learning with our young musicians.

Bows are critical to the sound as well; they're comparable to a wind player's airstream blown into the instrument. Without a good, solid, working bow with lots of hair, a musician won't sound as good. Thanks to you, they will sound fabulous!

It warms my heart to know that there are lots of caring individuals that are willing to help our out young student musicians.

    Thanks again.”

  • Can You Hear Me Now? Good!

    Funded Dec 22, 2023

    Thank you so much!

Musicians (and music teachers!), more so than other subjects, understand that our body is vital to our art form, and our hearing and voices need to be cared for. Having this new microphone helps me save my voice and care for it so I can get many more years of use from it.

Now that the students can hear my voice in rehearsals, we work so much more efficiently. Especially in my concert band classes, where there is a large number of students and equally number of loud band instruments, they can still hear me as we rehearse. Saves so much time when I don't have to stop to tell them things!

Thanks again for your kindness; my voice thanks you, too!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Boster

  • We've Got the Beat!

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

On behalf of my students and their families, thank you so much for your generous donation in helping us purchase practice pads for our young percussionists. Having a surface that will respond in a similar manner to a drum head is critically important to their development as musicians, and they'll be much stronger players when playing with our band since there won't have to be an adjustment to the two surfaces.

I can also vouch that their families will also thank you, since our student musicians will be using the practice pad and not the furniture around the house!

Thanks again. Your support means so much to us.”

  • Help Us Sit Up and Be Noticed!

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

On behalf of my students, thank you so much for your financial support which allowed us to purchase new shoulder rests and cello straps for our orchestra students. They make such a difference! Before, our violin and viola players were slouching and their frame was collapsing, but now they sit up beautifully with good posture. Our cello player previously had to walk a fine line when playing on the hardwood floor of our gym and holding the cello between their knees, but now they can fully focus on the music since the straps do the job of holding the instrument in place.

Our concerts are easier to perform with the proper equipment, so again, thank you! The path to mastering our instruments just got easier, thanks to you.”

The students in my middle school music program are wonderful kids. We're an ethnically diverse school, with more than one-third of our students are at or below the poverty level. They have many obstacles to their education both in and out of the classroom, but they don't let it deter them from their goals. They're constantly pushing themselves academically and musically. We do have budget constraints, just like any other music program. The district funds our repair needs, but I'm always looking for new and inventive ways to meet my students' needs. Students who need to use school instruments are accommodated with the inventory we have available.
