  • B is for BOOKS!

    Funded Oct 22, 2020

I cannot express how thankful I am for your generosity. My students loved reading all the new books and being able to take them home with them while they were learning remotely. During this difficult learning experience, students were still able to continue to read all the different books that were purchased with the funds. They were super excited to have a brand new book in their hands all year long. Old and loved books are not that exciting to pick for students. They always want the books that are brand new and smell good. Thank you again for your donations!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Reilly

  • Make A Reader Feel At Home

    Funded Jun 13, 2019

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my class' education. The money you donated was used towards our new reading corner in the classroom. We were able to purchase an area rug, bins for books, pillows, two shelving units for benches, and cushions. Along with other chairs we already had in the classroom, students now have a "cozy" reading corner that feels like home instead of reading at their desks or on the hard floor.

Everyday the students get to move around and find a "cozy and comfortable" reading spot while they silent read. Our reading corner allows that spot they are looking for.

I wish you could have seen the student's faces when I told them we had a "special summer delivery" to the class. They were so excited to hear that the reading corner they use was donated by a generous company. If it was not for GM then we would not have an amazing reading corner.

Thank you again for your generosity, the students love that corner of our classroom!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Reilly

  • Learning with Movement

    Funded Dec 13, 2017

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my class' education. The money you donated was used towards new chairs for our flexible seating classroom. We got five exercise ball chairs, four wobble seats, and six clipboards to use when the students are working around the class. Along with the other ball chairs, stools, and bean bags that we already had, now each student in the class can have a different seat while working instead of their normal every day chairs.

We have a chart in the room with each flexible seating option that students are assigned to a new seating option each week. This helps keep things organized and gives everyone a turn.

I wish you could have seen the student's faces when the 7 big boxes were delivered to the class. They were so excited to see the new chairs and could not wait to use them.

Thank you again for your generosity, you made 78 kids smile!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Reilly

I am asking for four balance ball chairs, four wobble chairs, two bean bags, eight balance discs, and two saucer chairs to help implement flexible seating in my classroom. Studies show that physical activity is linked to higher engagement, higher academic performance, better health, and improved behavior. Creating flexible seating in my classroom will allow students to release all that bundled up energy by being able to move freely while learning without disrupting their peers. Each day in a conventional school setting, students are spending 6+ hours sitting in hard plastic chairs expected to stay engaged and learn. Not all students learn in the same way anymore. I want to create a classroom environment that adheres to ALL students' sensory needs and learning styles. Flexible seating also empowers student choice. A lot of my students feel pressured because they can't control things that are happening at home, and at school they can't control what they're required to learn. But with flexible seating, they CAN control HOW they will learn. Each time a student makes a choice to benefit their own unique learning style, they are making a positive impact in their education. Please help me get rid of my conventional desks and make room for 21st century learning with flexible seating options!
