My students attend school in Southeast D.C. They attend a Title I school that is 99% free and reduced lunch. Statistics state that these students should enter school far behind their more privileged peers and continue to fall further and further behind. However, THIS IS NOT THE CASE. These students are fighters and are eager to learn each day they enter the classroom. The staff are equally determined to make sure that these statistics do not apply to our school. Each year, as a whole, our school continues to chip away at this achievement gap.
