  • New Classroom Rug

    Funded Oct 23, 2023

    Thank you so very much for purchasing this classroom rug for us. We now have a clean and organized space for us to get together and learn as a group. We love our new rug and meet there at least 5 times each day to launch our new lessons and share our learning and thinking.

    We start each day on this rug to do our morning meeting, we share our thoughts and feelings and have a great way to start off our days. Then we meet there to launch our phonics lessons, our math lessons and do our daily read alouds. At the end of the day we meet again on the rug to prepare for our science lessons and share our thoughts and feelings on the day we just had, as well as prepare for our next day.

    The 24 circles on our rug are perfect. There are 22 of us in our class, so we all have our own circle to sit in, which gives us each our own personal space. We love knowing that we get to pick a circle and we don't have to worry about someone sitting too close or trying to steal our space, so it decreases our anxiety and makes us feel more secure and comfortable while on the rug.

  • Easels Help to Make Learning Easy!

    The easel has been an enormous help for our new phonics program. Before we had it in our classroom we had no place to display all the current sound cards and we had to hold them during the lessons. The students had no place to look and ensure they had the corrects sounds on their boards and no place of reference. Now the sound cards are visible all day and interactive with magnets on them so the students can manipulate them to make words. This easel is used daily in each lesson and will continue to be an integral part of our phonics curriculum.”

  • Flexible Seating

    Funded Nov 8, 2018

    Thank you again for your very generous donation! The students were beyond thrilled when they saw the new flexible seating options available within our classroom. They have been a very sought after option to complete their reading and writing lessons. The students have even discussed among themselves who should get first choice in the space because "they really need it" and "do such a great job when they are over there". It has been so wonderful to see the students have success sustaining their attention longer and able to complete assignments independently that would've required adult redirection before these seating options arrived. It is also wonderful to witness the students themselves being able to recognize which students truly benefit from the seat choices and which just think it's fun and prioritizing those seats for them on their own. The flexible seating has been a fantastic addition to our classroom and the students will be benefiting from them for years to come!

Each child comes to second grade with an expectation to learn, to be respected, to feel safe and to be challenged. Every student brings something different to the class and together we create a family that is bonded together by those differences. The students are amazing, accepting and motivating and I try to provide them with the best experiences and opportunities to learn and grow while they spend their second grade year with me!

About my class
