  • Coding With Robotics

    Funded Oct 3, 2022

Thank you for allowing my students to have access to a variety of wonderful STEM activities. From the circuit mazes, to the lite brights and building blocks, my students are always looking forward to creating new models and creations with their fellow classmates. These STEM Robotics have allowed my students to collaborate and let their imaginations run wild even more than before. We have used these tools over and over especially when we get the chance during enrichment time and indoor recess days. We were super excited to have new additions to our STEM station. My students and I greatly appreciate your generosity!”

  • Treats for My Sweets!

    Funded Oct 10, 2022

Thank you so much for your support on this project! I already shared some of these yummy treats with my students when we had a fun celebration for me being named Teacher of the Year! It was perfect timing to have the treats be delivered You can never have too many sweet treats when you have 20+ students. They know where I keep the stash in our classroom and are always working hard to earn more and more.

It brings me immense joy when I make my students happy and these treats will continue to do that. I'm excited that we get to keep enjoying our candy treats for so long because of how much we were able to choose for the project! Thank you again for your generous donation!”

  • Layering Up for the Winter!

    Funded Oct 1, 2022

Oh the weather outside is about to be frightful, but our new gloves and hats will be delightful! The cold temperatures are finally starting to set in for the season and these items will come in handy when it sets in even colder! The students cheered with excitement when I told them they were each getting a new hat and gloves! Most of them didn't have either when I asked, so these were a true blessing! The parents are also incredibly thankful!

Telling the students their project was funded is always exciting because I get to share with them about the incredible donors who believed in them and chose their project to support. It brightens their eyes and hearts with the kindness you have shown them. Thank you so very much. 🥰”

  • Getting Crafty for the Holidays

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

During the two weeks before break, the students tend to struggle to stay focused. Can you blame them? We are all ready for a break by that time! So this year I decided to switch things up and put our functional text unit during that time. The students will do hands on activities daily that allow them to practice those skills while having fun at the same time. We learn about the history of the candy cane and gingerbread, then create ornaments for both. The students learn about holidays around the world and how different countries celebrate Christmas. The students will be able to create crafts and do activities that go along with these lessons.

With these kinds of activities, they are so eager to come in each day and ask if we were going to have fun again! Then on the last day before break, each student will have an entire bag of ornaments that they're able to take home to give their families. I did it last year and it is definitely something that I would love to do again for years to come. Thank you so much for bringing a little holiday magic and reading fun to our room!"”

  • Quality Family Time

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Wow! I am blown away yet again with the generosity of the community that rallies around teachers to help them get what they need in order to successfully teach our young people!

My students have been so excited to learn all about the different materials and learning resources I have been able to obtain for them through DonorsChoose! They were even more excited when I told them that a generous person was responsible for their "goodie bags" this week. They received a bag full of fun things to do at home with their families and they couldn't wait to get the card games home to play with their families. I'm a firm believer that teaching involves more than just the academics. The students need to know that their teacher is on their side and doing everything to help make the school year the best that it can be... that it's about caring about them and helping them even outside of school. Thank you so very much for helping me make that happen. You truly are appreciated.”

  • Creating Geniuses the Osmo Way!

    Funded Oct 3, 2022

Our class loves playing on the iPads with the OSMO learning systems during our station time! They have learned how to independently log on and find a game they want to play. The iPad has been a wonderful addition to our classroom! There are many different games that are offered through the game sets which allows for students to play something that interests them. It is so hands on and instantly gives them feedback which is wonderful for all levels of readers. The games can be adjusted to give more or less help to students as they play.

The day it arrived I put the box in the middle of our classroom rug. Students were at lunch and I told them we had a special surprise in our classroom. They were so excited to find out what was inside. They made predictions and then we chose a random name of a student who got to open the box and reveal what was inside. The rest is history. Our learning station is always full of 4th graders excited to learn!

Thank you for donation to our project! It's wonderful getting the support and resources we need through generous donors like you!”

  • Snuggle Up With a Cozy Blanket

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

This was by far the best surprise to open my door to! It was "one of those weeks" where nothing wanted to work, the weather wasn't nice, kiddos are sick, state mandated testing, etc. My students and I were all getting to our breaking point and out of nowhere, the knock on the door. My eyes popped open as wide as they could go and I yelled out, "Your package is here!"

They were all completely lost and looked at me like I had lost my mind! I opened the door, grabbed the box, and turned back to explain. I obviously couldn't tell them what was in the box but that it was going to be a part of their Christmas gifts.

Over the past several weeks I've been collecting chapter books, picture books, stuffed animals, art supplies, candies, and fun activities for each and every one of my students. This has truly been an amazing group of kiddos and I want so badly to help them celebrate being a part of our learning community.

Your generosity was exactly what we needed to turn our negatives into positives and it reminded us how lucky we are and to be grateful for the things we do have. Thank you so much for helping me make that happen! My heart is so happy!”

I am so excited and eager to welcome 24 bright smiling faces into my classroom this fall. I teach 4th grade at a Title 1 school in Norfolk, VA. Many students in our school come from low-income households. This has many implications academically. It is my desire that my classroom is a place where ALL students come to feel loved and to have an equal opportunity to learn and grow. No matter the challenges they face, my students come to school wanting to succeed and I want to do everything I can to help them do just that!
