Boogie Into Distance Learning
Funded May 9, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donations. These Boogie Boards have been great especially during this new time of distance learning. Of course I would love to be face-to-face with my students but these boards allow the students to complete class work and problems on a fun tool instead of on paper and pencil. From what I heard, they love the erase button. It is easy for them to fix mistakes and they don't have to waste paper in the process. Showing their work over a Google Meet is easy and quick as well.”

Funded Aug 13, 2019Thank you so much for making a donation so we could have headphones in our classroom for all students. Many programs we use in the classroom require sounds and before having the headphones it was very difficult for students to concentrate. Now everyone can be on a computer at the same time and only hear their own program. This year our county adopted a new assessment that requires headphones, and now we won't have to wait to begin using the program. Sone students even use the headphones to block out sounds when working on class work. We are so appreciative. Thank you.”

Funded Apr 27, 2019Our class had a blast learning and exploring how to use the Spheros and the Botleys. When they first saw the big box arrive, they were so curious and couldn't wait to see what was inside. Some of the students knew exactly what they were, but others had no idea what they were looking at. It was so great to see the smiles on all their faces when they learned they were able to use these robots. First, the students just worked in small groups to explore what they could do with the robots. Giving them free exploration time was well worth it. Some of the students even told me what to do.
Once the students has enough time to explore, I put out centers for the students to work through. Some of the centers involved creating a maze for the robots to maneuver through, while others worked on programming the robots to make certain shapes and using directional words to move the robots to a specific location. They persevered through the different centers and got so excited when they succeeded at the different tasks. Seeing them be creative and using critical thinking skills while collaborating with each other brought a smile to my face. Thank you for all of the support to make this project happen for our children.”
