Comfortable Space = Comfortable Mind!
Funded Jan 8, 2019Thank you so very much for your generosity and willingness to donate to my office! My students and I are loving our new space!
The new desk helps keep me organized with drawers and shelves. The table for my students to sit at is finished and clean, and my students love participating in activities and sharing around the table. The rainbow-colored stools are perfectly-sized for the age group in our school, and the students love picking a new color each time they come into the room. If they aren't going for one of those stools, they're running towards the tree trunk stools that have been used for flexible seating, as well as for group sessions for students who don't feel like sitting at a table. The bookshelf perfectly stores and displays all of the wonderful character-building books that used to sit on a covered shelf. Additionally, the counseling resources and games add a spark of energy to both my counseling sessions and my character education lessons in classrooms throughout the school. And finally, minimalist storage meets bright and colorful with my storage cube shelf. I'm able to store games, materials, resources, and more in those cubes.
The first week that my furniture was built and the room was put together was so special. Each time I would pull students into my office for a session, sheer excitement filled the space. They would make comments about how colorful everything was, how clean everything looked, and how great it was that they could either sit at the table or on the floor with a tree stump stool. Even now, weeks later, students comment about how much they love all of the new additions.
I am endlessly thankful to all who made this possible. My incredibly supportive principal and school administration, the support team at Donors Choose who answered any and all questions that I had, and the wonderful and outrageously generous donors who contributed to my project - all helped to create a positive, bright, safe space for my students to grow into the people they want to be. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Vogel
