  • Equity in Our Classroom Library

    Funded Jun 14, 2022

Thank you for your generous donation in honor of Juneteenth! I am so excited to ensure that my students are exposed to diverse books in their classroom library. In addition, I will now have more texts to choose from when planning and preparing for whole-class Read Aloud time. They will have more opportunities to learn about characters that look just like them and are figuring out solutions to the same problems that they too may be facing.

Again, thank you for thinking of my students and being the one(s) to help provide equity in our classroom library!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Benloss

  • Engaging Resources!

    Funded May 5, 2021

I cannot thank you enough for the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card that you provided my classroom with. While teaching remotely, I was able to purchase various ready-made resources that kept my students engaged in all their subject areas. Having this gift card to use while lesson planning, making it a stress-free process. I was able to find various activities and/or Google slide lessons.

I appreciate that I did not have to feel limited while searching for engaging resources for my students, on Teacher Pay Teachers, simply because you provided me with the access to purchase several digital resources that I needed for Social-Emotional Learning, Reading, Writing, Math, and Science. I wanted to ensure that my 4th-grade students who were learning from home, at the time, were presented with materials on their screen that were both engaging during whole group instruction, small group lessons, and also during independent work time.

My favorite purchase that I made was the Digital Student Check-in Journal. This tool allowed me to check in with my students and see how their mental health was each day. I could tell that my quieter students appreciated this particular tool to express themselves.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Benloss

  • Scholastic Science for our Budding Scientists!

    Funded Dec 29, 2018

My 4th graders absolutely love reading their monthly Super Science magazine subscriptions! It has completely impacted Science instruction in a positive way. We are able to not only discuss science content, but build their skills in Reading comprehension and vocabulary. My students are also able to develop their note-taking skills, which will help them in 5th grade and Middle School.

Independent Reading time is a treasured part of the day in my classroom, and now with Super Science, it makes that part of the day so much more dynamic. I have a few students who have expressed a love for Science, with negative feelings towards Reading. However, it has been refreshing to see those students excited about reading when it comes to their new classroom magazines.

We cannot thank you enough for helping us achieve our goal. We appreciate your efforts, and look forward to the remaining magazines that are left in the subscription. Seeing my students smile as they read their magazines is absolutely awesome.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Benloss

A "Super Science" Scholastic subscription would be such a phenomenal resource in the lives of our budding scientists. Our goal for Science is to ensure that our students feel like scientists, as they learn this subject in a hands-on way. An additional goal is for our students to take this learning home with them. I want my 4th graders to engage with the Science content in more ways than one, and with a magazine at their fingertips, this can be possible! With a donation to this project, our students can continue to learn how to think like scientists with all of the science features and news that Scholastic "Super Science" highlights. It will also be an opportunity for them to discuss what they have read with their peers, and build their reading skills. I am excited for what this magazine subscription could mean for my classroom, and for my 4th grade scientists as well!
