Multilingual Support!
Funded Dec 5, 2023Thank you very much for donating to my students. I have 7 classes and all students are benefiting from your kindness. I think the biggest hit are the whisper phones. Students love to be able to hear themselves read. I use them most during my newcomer 3rd-5th class when we are working on phonemic awareness and blending, but all my classes ask to use them when reading. It helps so much when practicing non-native sounds and when sounding out words. Of course, cleaning them is part of the fun as well, so the disinfectant wipes are very handy.
While my students love the whisper phones, I love being able to produce colorful and reusable resources with the new ink and laminate. They appreciate that pictures used for learning are now provided in color. It helps them connect easier especially when the picture is unfamiliar to them.
The giant timer has been a game changer for all my classes. Students no longer have to look behind them to see how much time they have. Instead, the timer is easily seen in the front of the class so students are able to manage time with their task.
All these supplies have helped me provide more opportunities to learn, and it's all thanks to you.”

Funded Mar 31, 2023Thank you again for all the donated supplies towards learning Science with Art. My students were learning about fossils and what better way to do so then to be a paleontologist yourself? Each student was given their own block of dirt and given the tools needed to dig, cut and chop into their block. When their fossil was discovered, they matched it to the description card and then learned how to say the name.
The next day, students used the stamp pads to stamp objects that also had fossils, then they had to label them. They used the stickers and the felt pens to add "flare" or a background to their stamp. They had so much fun exploring each other's fossils and using all the donated art supplies.
When my students saw they had their very own fossils to dig in to, they were super excited. I didn't tell them the possibilities of their treasure, so it was a complete blind reaction. They loved being about to dig and cut, but I think the real excitement was when they found what they were digging for! They loved using the stamp pads-many have never used them before-and the stickers and pens were fun for them because usually they only see teachers use those materials. I will definitely do this activity again.”

STEM for English Learners!
Funded Jan 23, 2023Thank you for your generosity. The STEAM games are a huge hit! When I don't have them out, students 2nd grade to fifth beg to play with them. The games are used on Fun Fridays where students are given the opportunity to practice their English language skills by picking an art, science or technology based activity.
When I brought them out for the first time, my students were very excited. They had seen a video of students playing with them in a different school who also have Fun Fridays for their Multilingual students and wanted to see what the hype was all about. Let's just say I am glad I got 3 games because most students want to build marble mazes or be engineers who play with circuits.
The joy on their faces when they complete their project is something I could have never imagined. The sense of ownership and pride they project as well as seeing them work as a team, collaboratively, is incomparable to any lesson taught. I am eager to watch them grow through their creativity. Thank you for making this possible.”

Bean Bags For Flexible Seating!
Funded Nov 30, 2022Thank you very much for your generosity. I love being able to offer more seating choices, and my students love that they have the option to sit on bean bags.
These bean bags have taught my students to be responsible and respectful.
Part of learning is being attentive and engaged. My students love being able to sit where they are comfortable. I have placed the bean bags in the front of the classroom so there's no chance of napping. I have noticed a huge difference in their participation.
When my students first saw them, their eyes were big with amazement. Obviously, they all wanted to bounce or fall into them, but I had to go over some ground rules. Those rules have molded my students into kind individuals as they have to share them, and allowed them to be accountable for their actions for if they decide to not make good behavior choices, they have to give up their seat.
Thank you again for bringing some fun into my classroom and helping me build polite and respectable children.”

Funded Sep 1, 2022Thank you so much for donating to my class. The supplies arrived at the perfect time. My students love to see their country's flag represented on the world-map rug and had a great time recreating their country's flag to hang on the map posters. I love that they are surrounded by resources that remind them of their home but also allows them to see that we all come from different parts of the world but are learning together in the US now.
When they first saw the rug, they rolled around on it with excitement. They looked closely at every flag until they found the one from their home country. Then they wanted to share what they found with each other. I wanted to carry over their excitement when introducing the maps which is why I had them recreate their country's flag. When they got to hang it up next to their country, they learned there were other students from the same place. The surprise and thrill was sweet to see.
We use both resources often especially with holidays coming up. We learned that not all countries celebrate Halloween and/or The Day of The Dead. We put holiday stickers on countries that do celebrate as a way to remember that all cultures are unique whether they celebrate or not. I can't wait to see what else we can do with these amazing resources.”

Music Rocks!
Funded Apr 16, 2022Thank you for your generosity and support with bringing music to my classroom. My students look forward to Music Mondays every week. We do everything from learning music vocabulary words, practicing beats and playing along with songs. Their favorite song to play along with is, "We Don't Talk About Bruno" from Disney's movie, Encanto.
Seeing the smiles and creativity pour out of my students has been a highlight of the school year. With many students adjusting to being outside their home and around kids due to the pandemic, building a foundation in their social/emotional skills was quite the challenge until I incorporated music into the week. Since music is universal, students collaborated and shared ideas with excitement and created beautiful songs.
Thank you for allowing them to experience music at their young age. It has brought so much joy and positivity to our classroom community.”

Digital Cameras For Student Photographers!
Funded Nov 30, 2021Thank you for your generous donations for cameras for our students. Each grade level was given their own camera and students who were interested took pictures of their peers for the yearbook. This new concept has allowed elementary students to share and conserve their favorite moments throughout the year.
Many students wanted to try out their photography skills, but little did us teachers know that we had many students with a great eye. The most exciting part was seeing the student photographers' faces when they saw their pictures downloading on the computer and arranged in the yearbook. They were so proud of their contribution.
While all students who took pictures loved doing so, students enjoyed it in different ways. Upper elementary school students enjoyed taking pictures of their activities and accomplishments with their peers, where lower elementary students enjoyed capturing their friends playing. This new approach to creating our school's yearbook has made students of all ages more interested in other parts of photography. We can't wait to see what's next.”

Funded Nov 11, 2021Thank you again for your generosity. My students were so happy we were able to do art without materials scattering all over the place. They were able to keep things sorted and organized on their new art trays.
They were equally as excited when I showed them the cardstock paper we received. We love to make holiday crowns and now they don't fold over or bend when it is windy outside. We have also done some awesome watercolor art, and because of your cardstock donation, the paint no longer blends through the paper.
Last, my kiddos love our new little timers. We play Beat The Timer to help us stay focused and complete our work on time.
We hope you enjoy our video of us using our new supplies. We sure are enjoying using them.”

Technology-Based Interactive Lessons
Funded Dec 3, 2019Thank you very much for your generosity. It is so much fun watching my student's faces light up when we can turn to technology for instant knowledge support.
Now that my projector is mounted, there are no more cords running across the floor therefore, there are no more risks for tripping students. It's so comforting knowing my students are safer while learner in the classroom.
The apple TV is used everyday to project curriculum related videos, clips or pictures. It is so helpful to have quick and easy access to pictures or videos that can help clarify any misunderstanding of a new vocabulary word or action/event. My students have learned so much more from watching penguins actually tobogganing, plants growing in elapsed real time, going on virtual field trips to the Monterey Aquarium and seeing pictures of a real dragon fruit rather than me trying to draw one. We are excited to see what new adventures we find through our new technology supported learning. Thank you for making learning (and teaching) so much more fun.”

Funded Jul 25, 2019Thank you so much for you generosity. You helped make my classroom into a truly magical learning space. The look on my student's faces when they entered their classroom for the first time was priceless. From the glittery boarders surrounding the walls, to their name tags neatly snug in their holders, my students have claimed their classroom as a place for learning and bonding with new friends.
The magnetic writing paper, the learning Bingo games and the word building activities have opened a new world of learning beyond workbooks and busy sheets. My students are drawn towards these different activities because it is a fun way to learn. We use our magnetic writing paper every morning where we review writing rules for kindergarten. Bingo is a great review game on these wet and cold days, and the word building activities are used in my centers as well as with my after school intervention group.
It's because of your donations, I can offer learning in different ways that seem more appealing to kindergartners which makes it easier to get them boarded on the learning train. Thank you for making this a magical year.”
