Reading Is a Great Adventure!
Funded Aug 9, 2022Thank you for donating to my Reading Project. My students are in Kindergarten. Many of them are experiencing school for the first time.
My students love to look at books and telling the story by looking at what is happening in the pictures. Some of my students are beginning to sound out and read the words.
They love the Pigeon Books, the Pete the Cat Books, the No! David Books, and many others. My students love to sit in the class library and read the books with the puppets in the library and to read the books with each other. Thank you for donating to my project, which helped me to be able to provide fun reading opportunities for my students.”

Funded Sep 23, 2021I am so grateful to all of you who donated to this project. My students now have a safe place to store their backpacks and lunch boxes. We now store our backpacks outside on the backpack cart. This cart has helped our classroom be more organized and has helped students focus more on learning because the distraction of having their backpacks on their chairs has be removed.
My students were so excited to see the backpack cart when it rolled into the classroom for the first time. They felt special when they heard that people donated so that they could have a special place for their backpacks and lunch boxes.
We will be working on adding and subtracting during math time and working on writing good sentences when we return from Winter Break.”

Funded Oct 5, 2016Thank you so much for donating to my project: Tablets for Technology-Based Learning.
My students are thoroughly enjoying using the tablets to read books and complete writing assignments in the classroom. They have used the tablets to read books for the Listen to Read center during Guided Reading time, which they love. They have also used the tablets to complete their first project which was researching and writing about an animal. Each students was assigned an animal. They read an article and were given QR codes to scan so that they could research further and learn more facts about their animals. The QR codes were also linked to videos which given even more information about their animal. Students then wrote a report and created a art project about their animals. I look forward to using the tablets more for writing, reading, and math as we progress through this school year. My students are getting experience with using technology to learn and complete assignments with another tool besides pen and paper. This skill will be of immense help when they are in upper grades and are required to do all assignments and homework on the computer.
Thanks for your support in helping my students experience a more engaging education!!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Banning
