Bring Backstage Magic to Aladdin Kids!
Funded Dec 26, 2019Thank you so much for your contribution to our project! The materials you provided helped us to create a space for students to shine on and off stage for our production of Disney's Aladdin Kids (and for many productions to come!) I know that our final production will be amazing and I look forward to sitting back and watching while my students use the tools that have been given to them to run the show themselves.
Our school is committed to providing access and opportunity to an exciting and enriching arts program for all of our students. Our annual musical production is in its second year, and although it is a new tradition, it has quickly become an important one that the students, staff, and entire school community has come to look forward to. Your donation has made it possible for us to put on an amazing show this year, and with help from generous donors like yourselves, we will continue to fulfill dreams and build memories that will last a lifetime for our students. We are so thankful for the support you have given to our students and our program!”

Funded Jan 4, 2017Thank you so very much for your generous contribution to our production of Disney's Aladdin Kids. The students involved in the production as well as the entire school community was overwhelmed by the amount of support and generosity that exists in our community. In less than 3 weeks, our ENTIRE project was fully funded and student designers were able to help their visions for the student actors come to life! Your donations and kind, encouraging words have impacted students in ways we can't even begin to describe. Students eyes lit up and their smiles grew wide as they learned that the project had been funded and they would be receiving COSTUMES and PROPS in just a few short weeks.
Student designers have been hard at work developing costumes, sets and props and these materials helped bring their visions to life. Student actors have been working diligently in rehearsals to learn material, develop characters, and devise new scenes that truly make the show their own. While we understand that many of our students will not go on to lead professional lives in the theatre, we hope that through participation in our musical, students will continuously be encouraged to work hard, work together, and be creative.
When the day finally arrived to try on our costumes and try out our new props the excitement in the room was palpable. Students instantly transformed into citizens of Agrabah before our very eyes!
Through the kindness and generosity of your donations you have helped us reward our students for the hard work they have been doing in rehearsal. Your donation has given our young actors the invaluable gift of not only feeling like the characters they've created, but looking like them as well! They will be sure to carry this experience with them for the rest of their lives. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your kindness and generosity with the P.S. 52 Sheepshead Bay community.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Avadanei
Creativity, Collaboration, and Cooperation: P.S. 288 Drama
Funded Sep 24, 2014There are not enough ways to say "thank you" for your generous donations and heartfelt notes. In less than 12 hours we were able to reach our funding goal of over $600. Thank you for your generosity and for believing in my students and in the impact that a quality arts education can make on their lives. As we get into the swing of the year, and we start gearing up for our holiday and black history month performances, and the other sharings that will be sure to follow, it's been truly incredible to have the necessary materials that will push my students to think creatively, encourage them to collaborate, and give them the opportunity to learn by doing, seeing, and touching. With your donation my students have been and will continue to be inspired by beautifully illustrated and written picture books, have the resources they need to write their own plays, and create and perform in their own imaginative stories.
In the few months since we've had our funding goal met and our materials delivered my students have been excited and stimulated by beautifully written books. My Kindergarteners are currently using the book, Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak to create their own devised pieces. My Pre-K students LOVED reading and acting out the book Creepy Carrots by Aaron Reynolds during Halloween time. My third grade students are exited to start using the Mysteries of Harris Burdick by Chris VanAllsburg to devise their own short plays. Using the materials made possible by our donors choose project, my students have been learning to work and create collaboratively and to use their imaginations to bring some of the most dynamic and beautifully written stories to life. One of my students, a selective mute, learning to get over their social anxiety immediately connected with one of the puppets purchased from Lakeshore Learning.
Watching my students learn and grow from the materials your donations made possible has been the best gift of all. Thank you for your kindness and generosity, you have just made the lives of over 180 students a little bit more theatrical. We can't wait to share with you all of the activities and journeys you've made possible!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Avadanei
