  • A New Printer for a New Year!

    Funded Sep 3, 2012

Thank you so much for your donations. Our classroom truly benefits from our new printer. From helping put up posters around the room to explaining our lessons using pictures, our printer has already helped me reach different kinds of learners in the classroom. It has also helped me create many different teacher-made worksheets to help students in reading, writing, and math. Our students love the colorful visuals around the room. Having a color printer is an important and useful part of our classroom. Thank you for your generous gift!”

    With gratitude,

  • Literacy for K!

    Funded Oct 2, 2012

Thank you so much for your generous donation! My students have grown so much as a result of their new writing tools. Our writing bins have helped them take more responsibility in the classroom as students take turns passing them out before each lesson. New pencil grips have helped students who were previously struggling to hold a pencil learn to form their letters correctly on the page. This has given them great pride in their writing, and they now look forward to writing workshop every day. Thank you for your help in making our writing workshop run more smoothly!”

    With gratitude,

  • Help Our Classroom Get Ready For A New School Year!

    Funded Sep 19, 2012

Thank you so much for your generous contributions to our classroom! Since receiving our many beautiful supplies, our students have grown so much. Our class loves practicing writing their letters and numbers on their brand new white boards, and constantly uses their mailboxes to take their daily work home to show their proud parents. Our brand new pencil sharpener has encouraged students to adopt more responsibility in the classroom, as sharpening pencils has become a much-prized classroom job. The new bulletin board borders and other decorative supplies make our classroom feel brand new, and the children are excited as they see their now familiar surroundings upon entering the room every morning. Thank you for making our classroom better and brighter, and for helping our students have all the resources they need for a successful year in kindergarten!”

    With gratitude,

  • Laptops For A Fun AND Interactive ESL Computer Program

    Funded Mar 21, 2012

Thank you for your generous donation to our classroom. Since the computers in our classroom have arrived, our ESL students have had an amazing chance to use technology to improve their English. Watching students use the computers for learning has been an inspiring experience. As a child sits down to play interactive learning games on the computer, they are not only learning how to use certain kinds of technology for the first time, they are also improving their reading ability in a fun and joyful way.

The story of one of the five year old girls in our class is an excellent example of how these computers have helped our ESL students. This child came into kindergarten knowing almost no English. Now, as she has grown in her own English skills throughout the year, these computers as well as the mice (which allow her access to the computer without being able to use the trackpad), have given her an opportunity to push herself that much more in reading and speaking English. She is already sharing new vocabulary she has learned from playing games, and a smile lights up her face as she uses the computer.

Your generous donations have impacted our class in a phenomenal way - they have given children access to technology they do not otherwise get to interact with, and they have made learning English truly fun and interactive. We thank you so much for your thoughtful gift to our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Athens

My students are part of a Charter School in New York that focuses on choral music. Currently the school is growing year by year. We are a kindergarten through fourth-grade school that will eventually reach the eighth-grade. We have a very diverse population in our school. Many of our children speak English as their second language. Our classroom has many special education students and many English Language Learners. For all of our kindergarten students, this year is their first year in school, and for many, this is their first time in an English speaking environment. We want them to have access to all of the resources they deserve in order to succeed in the future.
