Using Series to Make Serious Readers

I wish you all could have been in the room with us when we opened up the donation boxes -- the kids faces just lit up as they saw their favorite titles come out or intriguing new stories fill up our shelves. Books that would have been out of reach to them at the beginning of the year are now in their reach. Those same kids that were asking about the L basket? They're now asking for Q and R -- almost a full 1.5 years of reading growth! All of my students who have been with me for a full year have made a year's growth as we approach the end of school and a good number of them are in the 1.5-2 year range!

Other teachers in my school have been coming in to see what we're doing. Other kids want to come to our room to check out our library. Thank you again for your contribution -- my kids this year have benefited and my students will benefit for years to come.”
