Funded Nov 29, 2022Thank you for donating towards our class project to organize our classroom library. Prior to our project being funding, our library was very disorganized. We did not have a shelf that was in good shape. It was not the correct height for students to look through books comfortably. We also didn't have any way of organizing the books besides putting them on the shelf. Now, our bookshelves are at a level where students can easily kneel or sit down as they browse for a book. The bins fit perfectly in our shelves and allow me to organize the books into reading level, genres, and interests. Making it way easier for students to find books to read that they really enjoy. The new organization of our library also allows for the students to take ownership of their new library! They want to take care of it and are able to keep it organized themselves. Thank you for giving our class a spot to explore our love for reading!”

It will be great to get the rest of our classroom library organized to make it 100% accessible for the students. They will also be very excited to be able to shop for their books to keep with them so they always have books to read at their desk. We can't wait to update everyone upon the items arrivals!”

Reusable Water Bottles
Funded Mar 1, 2022Thank you so much for funded this project! The students were so excited to recieve their own new personalized water bottle. Who knew something so simple would bring such joy!
Giving each student a water bottle has taken away the stress of what to do if we are out of disposable water bottles. It has also helped eliminate plastic waste in the classroom. Not to mention, these water bottles have helped prevent spills in the classroom. Now they are abe to easily refill their water bottles, independently, in the classroom anytime they are out.
Again, thanks so much for helping us make sure each child is properly hydrated while at school!”

Funded Feb 21, 2021Thank you so much for your donations that fully funded our own set of books from our favorite author! As a teacher, of course a big academic goal is to get my students reading by the end of the year. But personally, I want to be able to give the kids the opportunity to really love reading. To help them become lifelong readers.
This set of books from Mo Willems helps me turn these little learners into excited readers. I've been able to do an author study with them. We have learned to compare and contrast different books by the same author. Not to mention that we have learned to love the characters and all their silly character traits.
Because of your donation, the kids are excited to pick out Mo Willems books from our class library. I appreciate this support more than you know!”

We Can Learn VIRTUALLY Anywhere!
Funded Oct 20, 2020Thank you so much for your donations that helped fund this project! The new items for our class have helped make this new virtual teaching a smoother experience.
I am now able to have a more flexible space to teach in thanks to the computer accessories like the keyboard. Our clock is large and has helped the students keep track of time are they are working independently. The laptop stand helps keep my camera elevated to make it easier for me to see the screen all day and points my webcam at a proper height. And most of all the new desk allows me to stand and be mobile as I teach in the classroom and use the computer all day at the same time.
Again, this virtual teaching experience is all new and we are fixing small issues as we go. But all these items have helped make it easier to teach my students online this year. It is all greatly appreciated!”

Funded Jul 19, 2019Thank you so much for all our materials that help my students get and stay organized! Each item has been put straight to use and helped create and organized classroom from the first day they walked into the room.
Our chair pockets are a major game changer! It has eliminated wasted time from transitioning from getting materials from our cubbies to our desk. I'm also able to put their name tags on the back of the chairs which has helped with the constant issue of plastic label pockets getting pulled off the tables. The plastic crayon boxes helped keep all their crayons together. This is usually a big issue as the box that they come in breaks very easily.
The kids really have been able to use these items to help them keep their supplies together. It has also taught them to be responsible for their things. We really appreciate it!”

Funded Nov 24, 2018Thank you so much for your donation towards our Lego project! The faces of the students as we opened the boxes and organized the Legos was priceless. Their faces lit up with excitement at the thought of being able to use our new manipulative.
I have been able to use these Legos for more things than I could of imagined. They have completely revamped our reading stations. Instead of using flashcards, my students have been building word family towers using Legos with words on them. They use them as counters. They are able to build words sight words with them. And all the organizing bins have helped us keep the Legos easily accessible. I even started a Lego club with 2nd and 3rd grades where they are given free range to build whatever they would like with the Legos! At first I thought it might get a little crazy in the room but they were so focused on their creations. They collaborated on bigger creations. The bilingual students were able to interact and communicate with English speaking students. And they were all able to synergize to clean up and organize on their own. It was amazing!
In the future I hope to get more base plates so students can use the Legos to create final projects for various units. I also look forward to using the Legos more with our writing. Allowing them to build characters and settings for a story that they can write about. The options are endless with these Legos and for that, my students and myself are very grateful!”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you for your donations towards our Amazon Fires. With limited technology in our classroom these were a very exciting addition for the kids. They couldn't wait to be able to use them as we set them up and anxiously waited on them to charge up!
These tablets have added so many new books for the students to read. I setup an account on an app for each student to create their own personal library of books that are specific to their level. They are able to pick books based on their interests. The best part is they are able to choose books that read to them. This has helped my early readers tremendously! Before we had the tablets they didn't look forward to our reading stations because they couldn't read the books. Now they have tons of books just for them!
These tablets have been such an enriching material for our classroom and I can't wait to continue finding new and exciting ways for the kids to use them!”

Funded Oct 9, 2017The day our iPads came in the mail was the most excited I've seen my students! Our classroom has very little technology besides the essentials so the iPads were a big addition. Not all of my students have used these types of devices but the students that have were very eager to teach the rest of us to use them. Using them for the first time was an easy introduction and they couldn't wait to get their hands on them! We set them up and got right to work using them.
I am still exploring how to integrate the iPads throughout the day but we are off to a great start. The students mostly use the iPads during their reading stations. I've put them in their own station for students to use. The app the students use the most during stations is an e-book app that allows them to choose hundreds of books to read or listen to. Each student has been able to create their own profile to find books based on their reading level and their interests. This has really sparked their love for reading!
This has particularly helped me with my students that read at a lower reading level. It is difficult to find enough books for them to read without reading the same ones over and over again. The iPads have given us access to enough books at their reading level that they don't even have to read the same book twice if they wanted to! They also don't think these books are "too young" for them which makes them more eager to read them. I've also been able to download other apps for these students to use that teach them their alphabet and sight words using games and videos. Since these students need more interventions in reading, I've been able to give them extra practice on top of the small group work we do together.
These iPads have been such an amazing addition to our classroom and we are so grateful for them! We look forward to continue exploring them and using them throughout the year.”

Mrs. Bruce
