Kindness in the Classroom
Funded Oct 18, 2023"Kindness in the Classroom", SEL, Self awareness, and kindness are all such big topics that I have been working with our students on. Noticing your emotions and really thinking about how you feel and what affects your feelings is a skill that not only helps them self regulate but also helps them make others aware of how they are feeling. With items such as the "Little Spot" set allowed us to view those items and see what "Angry" looks like and also aknowledge if they feel that way. With plenty of "Classroom chats" we have used these tools to "Name our feelings" and also help find what can help us feel better "stress ball" or "Push pops" or the"Tangle tool". We also learned that each of us have different things we like and different items that help us feel better. With these items donated to use we managed finding each an item that helps us when we are feeling big emotions. Thank you for your donation :)”

Funded Aug 12, 2024"Breathe in, Breath out" has been a project focused on mindfulness and allowing my class to not only enjoy themselves but to really create a full sensory environment. With the LED lights, the diffuser ( with all our favorite scents), and our wobble chairs to allow us to enjoy being in our classroom has made room 210B the place to be. With numerous different options and sensory items that aren't only geared towards our friends that love kinesthetic options, we are also addressing our friends and class members that love all the scents. With your help we have been able to create a safe and fun environment that allows us to use our senses and enjoy ourselves within our classroom. Thanks for your donation, it has really made our room a happier, safer and more calm place.”

Funded Sep 13, 2024The project ""May I Go to the Bathroom?"" was a special one made with our female students in mind. Our worksite "Panther's Wardrobe" was made to help students in need of extra clothes, get items necessary to change after having a accident. However, we noticed that more and more of our female students will request sanitary items and we didn't have to provide them with after changing ther clothes. Now after your donation we are able to offer sanitary items to the female students and. allow them to not feel embarrassed when they request them. Since then we are able to provide them with wipes and sanitary pads to allow them to feel more clean and allowed to go throughout rest of the day. Thank you for your donation, and for helping us take the stigma out of borrowing clothes and getting the sanitary wipes to help handle accidents.”

Funded Oct 1, 2024"Write it, print it, affirm it and share it" is a project made for students to practice their skills and also share it with others. Last year and this year we were working in our technology class and practicing to type, and improving our letter recognition. This year with this project we are using what we learned and typing out what we feel, "Happy, sad" some of us practiced using words to share our emotions others still worked on recognizing these emotions and used the mirrors to see ourselves.
We asked ourselves "how does a happy face look?" and now "a sad face", "an angry face with scrunched up eye brows": we began to notice in ourselves and in others what emotions we were feeling and how that may make other's feel. With having these tools and items in class our lessons have began to take a more dynamic approach using sensory ABC's to help make words, using our mirrors to see ourselves, printing and sharing how we feel allow our lessons to not only be good but to be dynamic filled with different opportunities to practice skills. My classroom and I really appreciate you donating to this project and look forward to continue to use these things to express ourselves.”

Funded Aug 15, 2023I want to thank you for all your kind donations, as a first year teacher I was filled with emotions and excitement to meet my students and provide them with a safe, caring and fun environment. Your donations helped do that, with items that they liked and were able to select from, it helped "break the ice". That first day of school, it was crazy to say the least but watching them walk into a classroom and being able to walk to something they liked and seeing the smile on their face as they are playing with the Kinetic sand box or when they walked over and grabbed the pop it ; the look of content couldn't be explained in words but just know it was appreciated and really gave my students what they needed and have become items of comfort throughout the school year.
In a room filled with students one smile says it all and to me it can be interpreted as a "Thank you", Thank you for giving them something that they love all your help and donations have gone a long way and will continue to support my students.”
