I want to facilitate independence and help the students learn to make choices that will set them up for success in my classroom but also in the real world. By having different options of work spaces, the students will be able to learn how to make choices where they will be most successful. I am a first year teacher in a title one school of 99% students that qualify for free or reduced lunch. The school that I work at also has low enrollment which impacts the funding per pupil greatly. Being a first year teacher, I do not have the funds to create different learning spaces beyond a chair and a desk. Having these different seating options in my classroom will allow the students to learn about themselves as individuals and how to make responsible choices.
