  • Hurricane Sandy Relief: Students Need Modern Technology Now!

    Funded Feb 4, 2013

It is my honor and privilege to be working as a New York City public school teacher. It is in thanks to donors such as yourselves; who have enabled me to do my job even better. You will give my children a chance to learn essential literacy skills on a technological level, while making their learning both fun, enjoyable and is guided with 21st century technology!

I would like to take this time to thank you wonderful donors. I can't fully express how happy I am, my excitement, and thanks for your donations to my project. It is great to see that you share my vision for supporting children with disabilities. Thank you so much for helping myself getting the materials into the classroom that my students play and learn!!! You have given me the tools to help my students achieve all of their educational goals this year as well as my many students in the years to come.

Working with students with autism is a wonderfully rewarding experience. A laptop can bring a whole new world for the students, while inside our classroom with the simple click of a mouse. my students deserve the best, thank you for making this happen. These children are wonderfully creative, bright, caring and loving. They have many challenges, one that is providing them with help overcoming their problems by learning through play. You as a donor have helped me do by funding my project. So thank you again and I know my children will be extremely grateful and I know they will love the items that you have donated to the classroom to support all of their learning. I can't wait to see how much fun they will have learning with me this year and other students for many more years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Amato

Working with students with autism is a wonderfully rewarding experience. These children are wonderfully creative, bright, caring and loving. They have many challenges and through this project you will help them to learn skills in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), which all at times can be a very abstract subjects with even harder concepts. By giving them a chance to explore science through literacy, it let's the unimaginable phonemes of this world become a concrete idea. You as a donor have now helped me to do this by funding my project. So, thank you again. I know all of the children I work with will be extremely grateful. Hello. My name is Ms. Amato. I am a teacher in Staten Island, New York. I work with Students With Autism and Multiple Disabilities in a District 75 Program. I work with over 120 students and each one of them is unique! My students are very special. Having them learn is most important above anything else. My students are loving, caring and smart. They just need additional supports and a multi-sensory learning experience in order to tap their true learning potential. As an educator I spend so much money on my classroom but I am not always able to get them everything they need but it does not mean they should not have it. My students deserve the best, so I come here for help! They all need and deserve your help so if you can donate, you will be enriching the lives of my students. 100% of my students have free lunch and many of them miss out on activities their non-disabled peers have. Thank you for your time.
