When you enter portable 3, you'll find kids working on the floor, on ball chairs, at standing desks, on swivel chairs, in group areas, in camping chairs, and in independent areas. All our whole group learning happens on our large carpet at the front and center of the room. When students are released to work in partners, groups, or independently, they are free to choose the seat and area in which they will be most successful. The classroom environment I have worked to create is centered on the students. The classroom culture we have created is centered on cooperative, active, and engaged learning. Some of the benefits of flexible seating include using excess energy as well as increased motivation and engagement.
