I believe literature can provide our students with the necessary tools to become active, engaged, critical thinkers. I have designed a curriculum for the 2018-2019 school year that includes diverse authors, stories, and experiences so that my students can be provided with opportunities to engage with high quality, exciting stories. All of the text found in this project are selected purposefully to create these opportunities. From Japanese internment to a Latina Poet, from Sherman Alexie to Jason Reynolds, these text will enable my students to expand their thinking and empower them to find a new depth and appreciation for literature.
