My students are in a low socioeconomic community where technology is not readily available at home or at school. We have one cart of 30 google Chromebooks to share between 55 students daily. With these iPads I plan on having students read off of them in our library and use them for projects in social studies and science. For example, students will be able to use the app Chatterbox to upload their historical figures and add their voice to them and present the biography to the class in a more interactive way. With apps like Epic, my students that are low readers will be able to have books read to them with words being highlighted along the way for them to follow along. What my students will get from these iPads is a sense of confidence in their reading and a creative insight on a technological future.
