  • Thinking Seeing and Creating Like an Artist

    Funded Oct 23, 2020

Wow! What a wonderful surprise to open my email and find the last of my project funded! Thank you so much for the generous donations to our Thinking Seeing and Creating Like an Artist project.

students need to see and experience different materials and techniques in their journey as young artists. These materials will let them experience for themselves what thick rich colors look like and how it changes their art. they will see for themselves that there are many different blues and that by mixing these different blues they get truly stunning colors.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Gold

  • Mailing Art Cards

    Funded Aug 27, 2020

my students are very social and enjoy creating close meaningful relationships within our strong school community mailing art was a way for us to stay connected during very hard times. learning remotely has been very difficult for my students. keeping in contact and creating cards has opened up a new way for them to communicate witheachother. Sending and receiving anything that was not generated by a computer and mass-produced is a new concept for them and many of my students were inspired and intend to continue to create art to mail as gifts and cards.”

  • Connecting Art With Science and Social Studies .

    Funded Jan 23, 2020

my students were able to use the glue and tape along with empty paper towel rolls and plastic bags to create horse head masks.

they learned how to make a base -armature covered in plastic bags as a release. Then they used newspapers to create strips and apply the glue mixture. they let it dry in between layers and created strong stable constructions.

They learned that Native Americans were proud of their horses and decorated them for ceremonies, rituals, and war. they also learned that they can use-reuse round objects to create a base to make masks and sculptures.

my students were filled with joy and gratitude that "strangers would help them get art supplies.”

  • Teaching and Learning From Home

    Funded May 5, 2020

the supplies I received helped me teach remotely. I was able to give live meet demonstrations. These markers and dry erase board made it possible for my students to see my demonstrations. They were impressed with the kindness of the donors that helped and with the brightness of the markers that showed up well in our online meet.

Not knowing what the future holds is hard and staying in touch with students helps keep our feeling of community, that we all work so hard to achieve.

These materials will help as we continue to distance teach in the fall.

    Thank you

  • Painting as a Way to Express Feelings and Share Creativity

    Funded Dec 20, 2019

My students were so excited to get our new paint and brushes. We have been using older ones that have hair that falls out and the new ones end that problem. The tempera sticks can be used wet or dry and have different effects some young artists used them dry and they appear more like a pencil or charcoal. The liquid paint has bright bold colors and paints extremely smoothly.

We have done some explorations and will be creating more paintings as the year go on. Many students created abstract paintings while others did animals and skulls. We are giving voice to student choice and the results are amazing.

The next steps are to study different artists and choose one to use as inspiration to create our own masterpieces.”

    With gratitude,

  • Art and Science of Paper Making

    Funded Mar 26, 2014

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your contribution to my art room is so appreciated. As an art teacher most of our materials are consumables and need to be constantly replenished leaving no room to purchase any enhancements. It is so important to have quality supplies and equipment to support quality art education.

Having paper-making supplies helps enrich student learning by combing science and art. Hands on activities reinforce student learning in paper-making they really learn how to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

These supplies also allows students to connect learning in a new ways that would never be possible with the limited budgets that we have available. They can use limited supplies to create paper to use in painting printmaking, and collage, the possibilities are endless. It is always exciting to see students smile when they can brainstorm new ways to use old materials!

Lastly, These frames, and screens will be used for many years ”

  • Looking Closely -Self Portraits

    Funded Feb 20, 2012

We are so thankful for your donations. The self-portrait mirrors are just what my students needed. We used them during a unit on observational painting that involved looking carefully at ourselves really seeing the right shapes and placement of our features

Teaching art at a time when the budget has been reduced and teacher's choice suspended has been hard many of the supplies we need are consumables and need to be purchased every year your donation included pencils sharpeners and paper that make teaching possible.

My students and I will use the mirrors for years to come and we thank you for your amazing generosity

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Gold

My students are inspired! we have been looking at famous artist self-portraits like Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Judith Leyster, David Alfaro Siqueiros, and Andy Warhol they are so excited to create their own. They want to feel like they are a part of history, to create a portrait “like Frida Kahlo” and ask the question, who am I?
