  • A Place for Everything & Everything in Its Place!

    Funded Nov 8, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom. We truly appreciate it. Our big book stand is used daily. We use it to store our wide collection of books, during our literacy lessons. Our students are enjoying writing on the dry erase board as well. The dry erase board is magnetic and it allows for us to practice phonics and to match letters and build cvc words. The Cricut cart has been utilized to store a classroom Cricut in which we are able to make a variety of crafts in the classroom. The laminating paper allows us to adapt books and create materials that allow for hands on learning within the classroom. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

  • Treat Our Bookshelf

    Funded Mar 31, 2023

Thank you for allowing me to create more engagement for my students diagnosed with Autism. My students have language delays, and/or attention issues that make it difficult for them to listen to stories. I added visual supports to adapt all the beautiful board books that were purchased for me. I am excited to increase student engagement, make reading more hands on and meaningful. The board books are a perfect supplement to the themes that are taught year round. The students enjoy matching picture to picture, while easily turning the pages of the board books. Thank you!!!”

  • Lovely Leveled Library

    Funded May 4, 2023

Thank you for allowing me to create more engagement for my students diagnosed with Autism. The super sturdy cart allows me to store and organize all the books I have adapted and separate them into various themes to make reading more meaningful and enjoyable for my students. This cart is ideal for literacy instruction, guided reading, independent reading, and to help my students when they are selecting their books for their book baggies to take home! Thank you for your generous donation and for helping me to start the school year off right.”

  • Adapted Board Books for Special Education

    Funded Dec 31, 2022

My students have language delays, and or attention issues that make it difficult for them to listen to stories. Thanks to your support, and donations to my classroom library, I was able to add visual supports and adapt these board books to increase motivation and engagement!! Adapted books are so valuable for students who have difficulty maintaining attention when I am reading, and they help to engage my students in the reading. Students now have books their busy little hands can hold on to (matching a picture) to a board book with more durable pages that will hold better. I will be using these books for many years to come, 12 to be exact!!”

    Mrs. Schechtman

  • Warmth & Comfort

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my classroom. A classroom rug has helped to make my students feel warm and cozy when they are enjoying a book in our leveled library. The classroom looks and feel more inviting as well. This area is a classroom favorite, where students enjoy sensory time, break time, and shared readings.

Students can now sit comfortably on the floor and learn how to play with toys functionally in their environment, as well as where they are learning how to share and take turns with their classmates. Display stands are utilized to hold their communication devices, and the teacher pay teacher gift card has been used to purchase many adapted learning materials that ensure every one of my students has equal access to the curriculum, but adapted to their own specific needs.”

  • With Organization Comes Empowerment for Back to School!

    Funded Aug 12, 2022

Thank you so much for funding my project! It is a daunting task setting up a classroom every year! My classroom did not have enough bookshelves, and I was never able to fully organize my materials effectively to allow for easy access for my students. Students with autism are all so different and have a vast array of needs. Many of my learners are taught individually and all require different levels of materials. The bookshelves and bins helped me to organize all the materials for each learner, while allowing them easy access and individual bins to bring to their desks.”

  • Adapted Books Allow Students with Autism to Engage!

    Funded Jul 22, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations to this classroom project. I have been able to make numerous adapted books to strengthen my literacy programs in the classroom. There are so many benefits to using adapted books besides the language it encourages. I use adapted books with all children because the amount of motivation alone is a winner in my book. Kids love matching the pieces to the book and it turns normal reading into an interactive experience. Adapted books use movable pieces that really highlight important aspects of literacy skills. The laminating paper and laminator have been a necessity to creating them, and I am so grateful for the funding of this project!!”

  • Fall in Love with Learning

    Funded Nov 1, 2021

Thank you for all of your very generous donations to our classroom. The students have been using all of their new materials for hands on learning! The peg number boards are great for hands on counting with one to one correspondence. They are great for practice counting 1-10. The pegboards are giant and colorful! Students have been practicing categorizing while using their fine motor skills with the the nurse about sorting kits, all while having fun manipulating the materials. Our students have been composing beautiful mosaics by inserting large pegs into the transparent boards in the Fanta color junior. This toy develops eye-hand coordination, fine motor skills, and encourages creative thinking as children begin to invert their own designs !”

If my project is funded my students will be able to receive multiple entry points to help fully maximize their social, emotional, and academic growth potential. iPads are truly a lifeline for students with learning disabilities and the people who work hand-in-hand with them. For these students, iPads act as a translation, communication, and individualization tool with unrivaled effectiveness. In so doing, these devices reduce frustration, build confidence, and well, just work in teaching students the skills they need to learn to thrive. Help me to customize my students’ learning environment! For my non-verbal students there are many touch to speak apps to help them to communicate.
