  • Take a Seat and Play the Beat

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you for your donation for our stacking stools! They arrived this weeks, and my students couldn't be more excited. Fifth and sixth grade students have used them to sit on during class and during bucket drumming activities. Choir students have used them during rehearsals to provide more flexible seating. The stools stack easily out of the way when we transition to movement activities or during classes with younger students. We thank your for your support of our classroom and music education in public schools!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Brown

  • Give Us a Hand!

    Funded Dec 27, 2017

Thank you for your donation to our music classroom. Students were so excited for our drums to arrive! Since the arrival of our hand drums, every student has been able to participate in drumming activities. No more waiting to drum! Students have used our new drums to keep a steady pulse as they sing, to write their own rhythms, and to accompany recorder playing. In the future we will be using them for movement activities and to write our own drumming music!

We all know that students learn best when they are engaged, thank you for investing in our music classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Brown

  • Shake, Rattle, and Roll

    Funded Sep 13, 2017

Thank you so much for contributing to our classroom! The students were so excited to see new tambourines, egg shakers, guiros, cymbals, and a cabasa in our music room.

We have already been putting our instruments to use! Kindergarteners and first graders have been using the shaker eggs and guiros to act out the songs "Rain, Rain Go Away" and "Pajarito tan Bonito". Second graders have been using the tambourines and cymbals to accompany "Little Johnny Brown" and "Luna Lunera". Soon we will be using the cabasa to accompany the book "Clatter Bash". Students have been practicing using instruments to create sounds effects, keep the beat, and practice new rhythm patterns.

We appreciate your contribution to our classroom. We will be using our new instruments all year and in years to come!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Brown

Students in my class are active music makers. Not only do they sing and play with our limited amount of instruments, they create their own music and evaluate the work of professional musicians. Many of my students are bilingual and we sing and study music in both English and Spanish. We also perform music from around the world! Help us expand our musical creativity by contributing to our classroom!
