  • Empowering STEAM with Media Creation

    Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom project! The iPad you provided has truly transformed the way my fifth-grade students engage with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning. This tool has opened up opportunities for exploration, creativity, and collaboration that were previously out of reach for many of my students.

    The iPad has become a central part of our learning environment. Students have been using it to create videos and digital art projects that showcase their understanding of complex STEAM concepts, from designing ecosystems to explaining engineering principles through stop-motion animation. These activities not only deepen their learning but also provide an outlet for self-expression. For example, during our most recent project, a group of students created an interactive presentation about renewable energy. The excitement and pride they felt in presenting their work to their classmates were palpable, and it wouldn't have been possible without this resource.

    One of the most heartwarming aspects of this project has been seeing students who were previously hesitant to participate in STEAM activities light up with enthusiasm. One student, in particular, who often struggled with traditional learning methods, discovered a love for coding through an app we downloaded onto the iPad. He eagerly shared his mini-game with his classmates and even expressed an interest in pursuing a career in technology. Stories like his remind me of the lasting impact this project will have on my students' futures.

In a recent classroom project, my students created visually engaging financial charts and infographics, turning abstract ideas into tangible, comprehensible information.     The use of this technology has revolutionized the way our students access and engage with educational content. With the tripod and phone mount, students can create high-quality video content that effectively conveys complex concepts related to sustainability and conservation. This hands-on approach to learning allows them to better understand and retain the information. They are enthusiastic about creating video content because it allows them to express their creativity and communicate their ideas effectively. This excitement translates into a higher level of engagement and interest in the subject matter.

    Through the process of creating video content, students are honing their communication skills. They are learning how to present information clearly and persuasively, which is a valuable skill for their future academic and professional endeavors. Some students have particularly thrived with this new technology. For example, students who may struggle with traditional classroom learning methods are finding their niche in video creation. They can express their understanding of sustainability concepts in a way that suits their learning style, which boosts their self-esteem and confidence.

  • Lunar New Year for All

    Thank you for your donation. Our students reacted positively to the colorful and exciting aspects of the holiday such as lion dances, red envelopes, and special foods. The vibrant colors, intricate designs, and lively festivities associated with the holiday can capture their attention and spark their interest in learning more.

    From now on, students can use the new resources for Chinese New Year to learn about the history, traditions, and customs of the holiday. This may include exploring different aspects such as the Zodiac, the origin story of the holiday, the significance of the color red, and traditional foods and decorations.

    As shown in the photos, our students also had the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities such as creating Chinese lanterns, learning a lion dance and how to practice meditation. By actively participating in these activities, students can gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture and the significance of the holiday.”

Currently, students are setting daily, weekly, and monthly learning goals and tracking their own learning achievements. With your support, our learning community has been able to purchase popcorn machines and related supplies to support our learning community and their family.   • Connecting Health, Wellness, and Education in the Digital Era

With the supplies that come with this project, our students were able to be connected to the digital era, and advanced their technological skills and ability to interact and complete tasks using computer-based technologies and other associated technologies. The most exciting part for our students is that help the new device helps engage students at all levels, activate multiple learning styles, and provides exciting, and memorable activities. This new technology also promotes modern learning which deals with collaborating with others, solving complex problems, critical thinking, developing different forms of communication and leadership skills, and improving motivation and productivity.”

To launch our financial literacy project and incorporate it into our existing school wide economic system (Yes, we even have our own school currency), we are going to transform one of our classroom doors into a chalkboard that students can record their weekly financial goals and build accountability by reviewing and tracking them every Thursday. The smart plugs and Echo dot will streamline our classroom's smart hub where students research topics on financial freedom such as how to commit to living within our means, knowing our current financial situation, tracking spending, trimming budget and creating possible debt payoff plan. The smart hub will also become a work station where students can create art to be printed on t-shirts to fundraise and generate revenue to support other disadvantaged students and our school community. The lights, power banks and vinyl Gym tapes will be used to highlight aspects of our financial literacy project during open school day.
