In our classroom, we use guided instruction programming adapted to the student's needs. So at any point of time in class, you will see up to 10 students working on 10 different lessons focused on areas of needed intervention during a class period. It gets a little noisy for our students when they do not have earphone technology to hear their programs and to block out others.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve student attention and focus on my student's individualized learning, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
Last year with a class set of earphones, we reached a 92% proficiency rating with our class' math scores, over 300% growth throughout the grade level. Most of that success has to do with direct instruction and guided math, but to ensure that every moment of class time is used to improve my students' math confidence and skills, students need to be able to hear their programs. The earphones that were provided last year are no longer in usable condition and the earphones we have now are not adequate in blocking out the noise of the teacher at the guided math table, the student leader at the fluency table, or other extraneous noise such as announcements for teachers over the loudspeakers. By integrating functional and developmentally appropriate audio equipment, my students will be able to enjoy their lessons and ultimately discover the joys in learning about math!
