  • Lego Get Some Lego

    Funded Sep 3, 2020

We are so grateful for your gift to our classroom. My students love this new Lego kit and have used it each week to learn and grow. They have learned how to build, program, and solve problems. In our class, we have learned about exercise, music, engineering, and many other career fields. Even today, we are working on a project about weather. My students will build a robot that will connect to Lego's weather app and they will make predictions about what the weather will be like throughout the day. I get to see my students fully engaged in learning through the design process. Thank you again for your generosity and for supporting our class through this awesome kit.”

  • Putting Words into Action

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for contribution to my classroom. My students have the privilege of filming the morning announcements at our school as well as other video projects. Teleprompters are used in professional broadcasts to help news anchors read their lines while looking straight into the camera. My students now have the same ability. Our videos now have a sense of professionality and quality. The monitor helps my students get a better sense of how they look as they share the important school information.

The first day the students saw the announcements using our new technology they were amazed at the improvement from reading their lines from a computer screen. They felt like it made it seem more authentic and engaging. Most students ask questions about how the announcements are done and how the students know their lines. The teleprompter is our little secret.

When new students join my class they see the equipment and immediate; y ask how it works. They are amazed, but quickly grow to understand how it all works. My favorite part is when students explain to other students how it works. It shows that they are learning about the technology behind media production. With your contribution, you are really making an impact.”

  • Students Capturing the Excitement

    Funded Nov 2, 2016

I can not even begin to tell you how much we appreciate your donations to our classroom. We have used our new camera and accessories in so many impactful ways within our classroom and beyond. We have created historical news programs, public safety announcements, teacher appreciation cards, professional development videos and much more.

Our students favorite thing about the camera is that it helps them make memories about their classroom experience. I have been able to capture pictures and videos as they work on projects as well as their final products.

I have noticed how this has helped our students to be able to communicate their learning in a different way. Our school services a wide variety of English Language Learners and it has proven invaluable to give them as many opportunities to practice speaking English. With your help, I have been able to add another opportunity through video. Thank you again!”

  • Inspired to Speak Up WithMalala

    Funded Apr 21, 2016

My students and I are so thankful for the materials and technology that you have provided. The documentary about Malala was the favorite part for my students. They learned about another culture as they heard about her life and family. They learned that the education that is often taken for granted in our society is truly a privilege that has to be fought for in other countries. After watching the program, we discussed barriers that we have to overcome in our community. They came up with key words that we had cut out such as poverty, race, and laziness. We discovered a quote that helps us realize that these barriers can be overcome and actually used as a method of reaching higher heights.

We have continued to use the vinyl cutter to create posters as we connect with modern day problems such as racism. Several students asked if they could use the vinyl cutter specifically for their project. It has definitely become a resource to aid in their education.

I want to thank you again for investing in the education of my students. They each have a variety of barriers to overcome in their lives as they seek to reach their dreams. These materials and the vinyl cutter have helped in this process.”

  • The Student Printshop

    Funded Apr 5, 2016

This new technology is used to help us be able to print papers and pictures. This is not possible for many of us at home. One of the students needed her student council essay and another needed to print a picture for a project. A cool thing about our printer is that it can make copies and scan. This means we can draw pictures and make copies or share them with our teacher on the computer.

We are going to do projects this year and make posters. We can use the printer to print them with color. This will make our posters look better and we can put them up in the classroom to add color to the walls.”

  • The Teacher: A Lifelong Learner

    Funded Feb 25, 2015

I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am for your generous donations. The professional development materials have already come in handy in a variety of classroom situations. My books were broken down into two main areas: STEM education and Organization/Classroom Management.

STEM education books have helped me gain a better grasp of the direction our school is taking. They have also helped me have a better understanding in professional development classes on the subject. I have also been able to plan better for next year as I have read about Project Based Learning.

The other area is organization and classroom management. My classes always have different personalities that need a variety of strategies in my back pocket to be the best educator I can be. One book I have read gave me some tips to use for kids who like to answer every question with "I don't know". I now either can give them the answer and ask them to answer again, use a longer wait time to let them develop a better answer, or ask another student and then come back to them again. This is just one example of how these books have helped me immediately in the classroom.

The iPad has also been used a lot in my classroom to quickly access resources online, in-house professional development and staff meetings, and STEM classes. I take pictures of presentations, use apps to scan articles for easy access, and type notes in a central device that I can easily carry with me.

Thank you again for your support and I look forward to how these materials will help me and my students this year and years to come.”

  • Learners and Leaders in Literacy

    Funded Feb 12, 2015

I have to tell you that my students were so excited when the new books showed up in our classroom. They immediately asked if they could start reading them and have not stopped since that day. They know that they came through your donations and are very thankful. I am aware you could have chosen any other project and you chose mine. I'm honored.

My students have 25 minutes to take a break and read each day. They have taken advantage of using these high interest books during this time. Each student has been able to find one or two books in the set that they really enjoy. I have the opportunity to sit down with each student and discuss what they are reading. I love hearing them share with me what's happening in the story.

Over the past two months, my students have grown in their reading levels. This only happens as they continue to practice reading. The books that you have helped provide give them more opportunities to build their reading levels as they exit 7th grade. This helps them not only in their reading, but also in their other academic areas. As testing approaches, this will help them succeed and reach their potential.”

  • Where Are We, Again?

    Funded Aug 22, 2014

We are so thankful that you chose to donate to this project. The maps came in and were a big hit in the classroom. My students were impressed that friends of mine were willing to buy the maps for them to use this school year. They asked if we could use them right away and we did.

We started the year by learning the geography of the world. Continents, bodies of water, regions and countries were not what we would call a strong point for many students. I still have the occasional confusion between a continent and a country, but we have improved so much. Now we use them to locate the Continents involved in the Columbian Exchange, the spread of limited government and the Enlightenment, and other specific locations of historical events.

These maps are so useful when discussing historical places. Rather than having students strain to read the map on the wall. They can look on their desks, point out, and label the exact locations of historical events. Thank you again for making this possible and I know that these maps will last for many more school years to come.”

  • Reading Into History

    Funded May 5, 2014

I just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate the set of books for our classroom library. Your donation is definitely going to good use. The day the books arrived my students were so excited to see the books. They wanted me to read the back cover of each one so they could get an idea of which ones they wanted to read.

Every day we have a specific time set aside for reading. During this time, you will find at least one of my students reading one of these books. Out of the Dust, Bud, Not Buddy, and The Car are probably the favorites. They have told me that the books are addictive and for some who don't like to read they were able to find something that they liked.

Each book is connected to a specific time in history. They are both learning to become better readers and more active historians. This helps because it gives my students something to read and get a better understanding or a preview of one of our topics. You really have made a big impact on my classroom. Thank you for the donation and I believe that this gift will make a difference on my students this year and beyond.”

    With gratitude,

At our school, we have students from a broad range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. While they have many differences they still have a lot of things in common. They are kids who like to have fun and want to succeed and make a difference in their world. My students have shown great potential and I cannot wait to see what they will do as they use their education to impact people around them. They are writers, scientists, engineers, artists, politicians, teachers, and much, much more. They will be fathers, mothers, aunts, uncles, and grandparents who will reach into the lives of future generations and make a change that will alter the destinies of thousands if not millions.
