Build a Digital Literacy Classroom
Funded Oct 20, 2015The students' excitement as I unpacked the materials you helped grant us was Imeasurable ! They could not believe that someone would give us equipment like these computers. My students have begun using the computers to research, explore, and create within our science and social studies lessons. They use them to take On line quizzes, and to produce projects. I think the feature they are most excited about is an application called Board Builder where they can create bulletin boards to display what they have learned, and share it with others.”

Printer Ink; Encourage us to Think
Funded Oct 21, 2014Thank you for supporting our class, and helping us to purchase ink cartridges for our classroom printer. We have already begun to put them to good use. The students were so excited to see the packages arrive, and hear me say that we could finally print some of their technical projects. I have also benefited from this gift, as the teacher. Copies are limited due to funding, and your gift has allowed me to print needed materials without hesitation, nor the waiting period that our printing agreement ensues. Your gift has untethered our restraints! Thank you so much!”

Laptop For The Daily Dolphin Student News Team
Funded Sep 7, 2014This project has become dear to the hearts of our students, staff, and the surrounding community. We have been able to move forward with the dream of creating a student-led broadcasting team with the technology you have helped us obtain. The students are learning to speak with confidence, use poise when interviewing people, and are becoming true leaders of their school community. This computer has become a treasured piece of the puzzle. My broadcasting team members' futures are brighter because you care! Words cannot begin to express our gratitude.”

Dixon Daily News Broadcast Equipment
Funded Aug 25, 2014A roar of excitement filled the hallways at Dixon Elementary School every time I shared the news that our Donors Choose project requesting a camera had been fully funded. When I described that our PTA, Dixon friends, family, and The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation made all of this possible, they shared such kind words of appreciation. Best of all reactions were the squeals of pure joy the children made when they found out. The kids immediately began to ask questions, and went right into discussion of all this piece of equipment will do for their broadcast team. They beamed with pride as people kept stopping by our news set to congratulate us. It was a wonderful day, thanks to all of you. Our supporters cannot be beat. Dixon is a blessed little school, and I am so thankful to be here.
We set up the equipment, all gathered around and were so delighted by this little camcorder. Having a brand new camera has added a touch of reality to our newscast. We are becoming a real broadcast team. Watch out world, here we come!
Our team received a huge boost of encouragement knowing that all of you believe in our goal, to share the daily news through a group of elementary school broadcasters. Kids are not always seen as being capable of such large tasks. These scholars have show everyone that they are quite capable. Their professionalism is growing each day. Now, thanks to your donations, and with such nice equipment, they are sure to grow! even more.”

Mrs. Zirlott
