The materials being requested for my classroom will specifically help students understand and visualize math concepts as well as differentiate for the diverse learners in my class. Fractions are a challenge for students, so magnetic fraction tiles will give kinesthetic learners exactly what they need to apply fractions in real life. Studies show that using non-permanent surfaces, such as whiteboards, allows students to think, collaborate, and process in a faster, more efficient way when compared to horizontal surfaces. Due to the pandemic, my students and I were forced to dive more deeply into the digital world and undoubtedly, learn how to navigate various tech tools. However, I want to give my students the opportunity to feel math again with their fingers tips. There is a serious deficit in math skills following at-home learning. Using math games, they will be able to review the misunderstood concepts in a fun and engaging way that doesn't feel like work. Students will be able to work independently and in partnerships to play these games. Not only will they be working on math, but they will also be working on social skills. Math games are a great way to motivate students as well as create excitement for the content. The students will be using these games in the classroom during center time. These games will allow students the opportunity to learn from each other and learn proper ways to win and lose with respect. The snacks included will be used as rewards for student participation. Incentives are game-changers in students' social-emotional needs, which can, in turn, create a positive impact on the student's academic performance. LET'S MAKE LEARNING FUN!
