  • Kindergarten Reading Center Fun!

    Libby & Chris you have really added to the CHEER to our chilly Alaska winter! We are working hard in our K/1 classroom to gain all the skills we need to be strong readers. Our kindergarteners are learning new letters and sight words each week. They will have so much learning fun with these new activities centered on letter matching and identification. Our first graders are really excited to apply their vocabulary and sight word knowledge to all the new books with informational text. We will definitely enjoy some listening center time with these wonderful new stories. We're truly honored to have your support. I'm so excited to use these donated materials with these beautiful minds and help them make long lasting connections in reading. Thank you for giving us reason to be JOLLY this season!”

  • The Science of Reading for Kindergarten Secret Decoders!

    Funded May 5, 2022

    We're so lucky this year to have students in a K/1 combination class here in Anchorage. They get to reap all the rewards from you, our benevolent benefactors. I have 1/3 of my students from last year; they have been able to pick up where we left off last year to become enthusiastic leaders in reading. They have built their confidence while reviewing sight words, building sentences, reading, and writing their sentences with their NEW materials. They're so excited to have fresh reading material and listening center books that they can use while independently running their center group. Although, being in the same classroom can be tricky, you've helped make it worth their while to do engaging, fun academic activities we didn't have the previous year! Thank you for the investment in our future... our students and their caring grown-ups and our Alaskan community are so grateful for you believing in us!”
