***COVERS for CHROMEBOOKS***
Funded Sep 25, 2017I am a student in Mrs. Wellington's 3rd period class. A stream of packages came into our class period yesterday. We could not believe the outpouring of generosity. We opened the first box together, and distributed the laptop sleeves to each other. We even got to choose a color that we preferred. It's amazing that someone that does not know us would donate funds to ensure that we could carry much needed technology in a safe, durable way. Thank you so much. I was worried about damaging the laptop in my book-bag, but now I know it'll be safe!”

Mrs. Wellington
Vision Checks and Prescription Glasses
Funded May 5, 2017My name is Janisse Lugo. I am a senior at South Bronx Prep. and I am writing this letter to express my gratitude for your generous act of kindness for allowing me to be one of thirty students to get free glasses. For all four years of high school I have struggled with seeing the board and even seeing my teachers clearly. I am a person who squints by nature, but because of your generosity, I will get new frames and glasses that will provide me with the best eyesight! I will be able to embark on my journey to college (City College of New York) with the confidence that I can actually see my professors' faces, and not have to rely on others for notes. Thank you once again for all that you have done.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Wellington
This classroom project was brought to life by Warby Parker and 2 other donors.Computers? What Are Those?
Funded Jan 5, 2015I can't express how absolutely appreciative I am for this act of kindness. It is very difficult sharing 30 laptops with 100 students and 5 teachers. The students were so surprised to see that someone that doesn't know them personally, still decided to help them in such a thoughtless way. They didn't realize that someone could display such sympathy and be empathetic to their personal difficulties.
Our goal is to eventually have a class set of 30 chromebooks to ensure that each child in the classroom has daily access to the technology. The ones that you funded for us will be given to those students that have no computers at home. Many of them fell behind in daily assignments, because many teachers require typed work and research, which is difficult to do when your only option is a 30 minute time slot at the local public library. We realize that you opted out of receiving "thank you" cards, but we were still compelled to write several, and at least send you images of what the children created. One child in particular cried upon hearing the good news that she would be able to take a chromebook home for daily use!
Since I am able to fully launch the online Google classroom now, all assignments, daily activities, quizzes, and exams will be virtual. It eliminates the need for printer paper, and ink. (we've gone green!) Each child has total access to their classroom, despite being absent, or having to remain at home to care for minor siblings. Their portfolios are now stored on GoogleDrive, which makes peer review, and editing simple. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Wellington
